Hi guys,
My temp gauge has just started flicking around all over the place, sometimes working, sometimes not.......
My thoughts are it's a loose connection somewhere.
Is anyone else able to give me an idea of what it might be or where to look?
I've posted a short video of what is happening.....

Have you checked the connector at the temp sensor?

Had the same problem and after viewing your video, it looked like you had taken a video of my own truck.
Mud nut has the right idea, clean the terminals of the temp sensor connection in the engine bay and make sure the connection is nice n firm.
If this does not fix it, replace the temp sensor with genuine Nissan part.
Our td42 did the same thing, after replacing the faulty sensor with a genuine replacement, problem solved.
I will mention though, on our td42 we opted to have a second coolant temp sensor installed for those just in case scenarios.
I picked up a separate inline temp sensor which was made out of billet alloy and added a separate pod style gauge (autron) to keep the factory gauge separate. The billet inline housing was installed in the opposite side hose to the original sensor.
So we now have a sensor On both sides just to keep a better eye on the temps.
Hope this helps.

That's great guys, thanks. Where is the temp sensor located?
I have a TB42e.

I was trying to find it in the electrical wiring harness, in the manual, as far as I can see it is at the top of the engine, towards the front.

The book says it has a yellow red wire.

Thanks for that.
I should really download a copy of the manual......
It was 6 months of hanging around this joint before I even realised AB was hosting them..... LOL.
I should pay more attention sometimes!

No worries, Drew, can't have you pulling out of the Little Desert trip because your temp gauge doesn't work. Now can we. :tease:

True
But only if those South Aussies get their act together and get it organised!
I thought they'd sorted a date and location. Now it seems neither is certain..... :-/

The temp sensor is generally in the thermostat housing.

Pulled the connection off today and gave it a clean and a bit of WD40.
Seems to be working now. Thanks for the tips.
Boot and wire looks a bit knackered though.
Might add some 'lecky tape.....
