View Full Version : Strange patrol phenomenon

Hi all

I'm just curious if anyone knows whether the chassis on our patrols has a habit of collecting dust and dirt and crap, not from driving through mud, but just through everyday driving? Reason I ask is I was under the patrol unblocking the drain holes on the actual body and while I was at it I checked the chassis to see if there was any dirt blocking the chassis drain holes. Now since I've owned the patrol I haven't driven it through any mud (yet) and the last summer we had (when i bought the patrol) I pumped the chassis full of water in an attempt to clean it out. But the chassis drain hole directly behind the front lower control arm bolt was completely full of dirt. I stuck a screw driver in and managed to collect a large pile of dirt on both sides, but only from that one point. We did have alot of rain in the last week which might have washed the chassis and the dirt has collected at that point, or the patrol just likes to collect crap. Anyone found something like this before with their patrol?

Ive pulled all sorts of things from the chassis rails mate so don't stress. My guess is that the previous owner went through mud at some stage, blocked that hole up and when you flushed it all the crap went to that area and sat there until dried and now that you have cleared the hole it all came out.

I've found birds flying out of my snorkel, Wasp nests in the chassis even a small dead bird in the cross over pipe to chassis...:icon_bonk:

Cheers AB. My main concern is that I like to oil the inside sections but I don't want a build up of oily sludge appearing inside the chassis.
