Hi everyone, today I took off the rear tail lights off my GU to connect a rear view camera to the reverse light.
I noticed that the only light that is in the light housing is just the reverse light and no tail or brake lights in either side light housing(except reverse)...the only lights that light up are on the rear bar.
Is there a reason why the rear side tail lights don't have bulbs, are they only there for cosmetic reasons??

It's because of the ADR. The spare wheel on the door blocks vision on the r/h tail light.

Hi mate, NP99 is right it's due to design rules. There are plenty of threads on here for adding after market lights, just use the search option at top right. Here's one http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?2452-GU-Christmas-Tree&highlight=christmas+tree

Yes I can see that happening, I thought even just having them as well as the rear bar lights would be extra careful, cheers for the comment.

I bought a set of these and wired them up. I didn't really like how little lighting there was in the rear of the GU, these made a world of difference.
