I've searched and searched on this but failed every time ;/
For extra fuel do I undo the screw or screw it in ?
We don't have diesel tuner shops round these parts by the way lol
So I'm going for half a turn at a time to see what happens, but experienced info would be so much nicer.
Cheers all learned ones :smiley_thumbs_up:

I'm not 100% sure myself, but I've been told 1/8 of a turn at a time..
To me, logic would say undo (open up).
Have you looked on other sites?

Work in progress ?

Conclusion : it's defo turn IN for more fuel ;)
I've ended up with a tad over 1/4 turn. I did try a half turn but the smoke screen behind was a WW2 battle ship defense system lol
Turned down the idle and bob's your uncle.
Right off to the S/C pulley shop now...........................

Well there ya go.. doing mine as part of the tickle up..
I've heard when cruzing you use marginally more fuel as the car is coasting, its when you floor it you suck it up but that's when the power is noticeable..
As for idle, I increased mine a little as the vacume choke wasn't working properly. fixed the leak and not only did it start working again but so did my brakes.. :p but for some reason I found it felt more perkier with slightly higher idle, around 900rpm when warmed up..
Dunno how, just did..
But glad we got an answer..

I've just got back from a 30 mile test run taking the boy to work and the truck's like a new beast, I love it even more now.
I'm running 35s and this little tweak has got me another gear back, fantastic . Still a little smokey on the hills though, but it doesn't fade away now, ace ;-)

Hey there, do you have an exhaust gas temp gauge when doing this? It was suggested to me to fit one and then play around with the fuel screw, mine is na, injectors and pump were done almost exactly 12 months ago before I bought it , Dyno tuned aswell, came out at 53 kW, lately fuel consumption has been all over the shop, down to 12.5 and one fill up to 17.8 L/100km seems to be lacking power slightly over some similar set ups that are almost identical. Wondering if is down on power and therefore working harder and using more fuel to get where am going. You saying all you did was adjust fuel screw then readjust idle and now all sweet?
Cheers. Phil

So I had done the same as you makeitfit and come to the same conclusion, searched and searched on here and google and asked anyone else I could, as I said earlier it was suggested to me to fit an egt gauge, after reading your posts this morning I decided what the hell, I have 3" Exhaust, standard wheels, 31" I think they are & NA. After a couple of adjustments without noticeable change I got to a quarter of a turn from where it originally was which made the idle go up just a fraction. After a bit of a road test which around mount Gambier as Kallen would know it's pretty hard to find much of a hill and readjusting the idle screw I have decided I think it feels like it is pulling noticeably better which is what I was hoping for ;-). The real test will be tonight when I drive to Adelaide and see if it has had any effect on fuel consumption. Stay tuned, will let you know how I go in a few days.
Cheers. Phil

Will be listening with all ears with how you go.
I will be fitting a EGT gauge before fiddling as we plan on towing a large van in the future so will be watching the change..
Also at half a million k's my old bus wouldn't pull grandpa off grandma.. ill stick the father in-laws 33's on see how we go..

Little update for you guys ;)
I've just been offroad for a couple of days round here and it's bloody brilliant BUT what I forgot about telling you all was that I usually run on neat veggie oil or Bio. On that count no issues, but I ran out of oil at the weekend and had "Buy" some diesel ??@@@$$ Curses the stuff is expensive.
Anyway I found my setting or half a turn in was too much with diesel as it smoked on the hills :/ Brilliant performance wise but a bit miserable for those behind me lol,
So you'll probably find a quarter turn fine on diesel. Half turn on veggie ;)

Ok, back from Adelaide, so before I left I had wound the fuel screw in a quarter turn, seemed to have a little more power, no noticeable smoke. Filled up in Adelaide which by where the gauge was sitting could tell was going to be scary, had improved slightly from the 17.7L/100km to 16.95. Is doing my head in why I am using so much fuel all of a sudden as was previously around 12.5-14. Anyway, after this economy I thought, or can't get any worse so I wound the screw in another quarter turn, made it now a little slow coming up the freeway but also pulled quite a bit better up the hill through the tunnels, only dropped to 75-80 in 4 Th by time I went over the top as opposed to only making it up at 60 previously. Still doing my head in over the fuel consumption as a mate has an almost identical set up except mine has 3"Exhaust and his only 2.5 and he swears he averages 11.5L/100km. Any advice is most welcome :D
Cheers. Phil

Well barely better numbers but yes, a little, my theory was that if it was down on power the motor might be working harder to do what it does and use more fuel than if had plenty of power and doing the same work easier, just a theory more than anything, ;-)

Yep. Make sure you adjust your idle and you ac idle up.
And I see what you mean by idle. Cold there was no change, but once warm there is a few 100 rpm higher.
So ilk tweak this, but how do I do the ac one? Is it the plastic screw??

So to recap. I've gone 1\4 turn..
Noticed a little smoke increase, but nothing to worry about..
But I didn't really notice much change??
It does pull better up hills, but still won't spin rubber.
So, how far can I go, and how much power increase can I expect??
Injectors are original with half a million on them, is it worth doing them before I get to Fuel hungry??

There is a little locknut on the back of the ac solenoid and a small slot in the grub screw. Wind it in or out and it will adjust the rpm for when the ac is on. I'm pretty sure winding it in lowers the ac idle up.

Your prob at about the limit already being NA. Adding more fuel now without adding more air will only really result in black smoke and extra undue heat. Slap a turbo on it :)
