These might be ok if you had spare rims and wanted to use them on weekends out in the mud???

Oy don't share my gem... :p
Na all good. I was going to grab a set of 33's and run them on the balance beads.
Imo they would be fine play tyres and running the beads if you do tear a lug or 2 it doesn't matter..
Bring on tax time...

the look similar to the Insa Turbo Special track, which I have on my MQ, although the lugs on the Insa stick out further around the edges. I can vouch for the traction of these tyres off road, it's superb. Bit noise on road though, as you'd expect!

There are so many Simex copies out. I've got some in Silverstone brand. Great traction offroad but they are a cheap tyre. I get punctures all the time and yes I do air down to 18psi or lower if needed.

That link is for Mongrel tyres which are a RETREAD! Not even a ReMould. I would not Spit on them.

Hi Kallen,
Yeah back in the Old Days the Mongrels where a true ReMould. Bead to bead and performed really really well. Plenty of guys ran them before Simex 35s became the norm. Most in a 33, and most really pleased with them.
Mongrels went off the market about 4 or 5 years ago and were no longer available. Plenty of Zook drivers were spewing mate. Perfect for them.
This New Breed of Mongrel is a Reatread only and really not comparable to the old product for that alone. I would not even fit these to a Trailer mate. Junk mate.

How does a retread differ from a remould? I had aways thought they were the same thing.

I think it's to do with the amount of area covered on the tyre. Retreads are just the tread pattern and moulds might encase the entire tyre.....could be wrong though.
These would be ok for mud bashing but not so great for the road.

Pretty well.
A Re tread is exactly that! The new Tread is added to the outside face only.
A Remould is from Bead to Bead and covers the whole carcass, side walls and all! Much less chance of de-lamenating at speed if the side walls are all part of the mould.
I'd be very very weary about fitting those to my pride and joy if there is any real commute to the bush to be had at hwy speed. Just not worth the risk IMO. They are $115 per tyre for a reason.

I've seen them as low as $65 a tyre. For that price you would need a bush brasher and tow it in on a trailer

Not all the mongrels where done bead to bead as I have 4 that where done on BF casings in 31 10.5 r15, with the extra rubber they are a 32 as a mongrel.
I just had one die - waiting for the guyon ebay to get in two in 15 inch
They are brillant off road
On road extremly noisey - I only run them on 4wd trips where there is going to be lots of MUD.
I run BG mud terians as my normal tyre - the mongrels are sooooo much better. There cheap for a play tyre.
I cannot find a melbourne vendor - the guy on ebay is loacted in sydney - with a $30 per tyre freight fee.
I suspect he has the orginal Mongrel moulds.

I've been a passenger in a vehicle when a retread has let go. Not a pleasant experience at all!. My old workmate's rear quarter panel was also torn to pieces when his retread let loose. I used to run remoulds on a Falcon, and found that they would bubble after hot days and 100km highway use. It would be interesting to see how long a retread would last carrying 2 1/2 tons up a steep rocky hill or doing highway speeds.

Don't touch them very low speed rating, I was first to fit Mongrels from Motorway years back,
Basically a centipede copy, great traction off road, can't hear yourself think on road accident ,,waiting to happen.
@ Kallen don't put your family at risk, Please these look tuff but no steer clear
