Decided to take the kids up to the property I shoot on for a bit of fun... Erica is a natural and this is the 2nd time she has driven my car but this time I made her change gears and I even got her to do a reverse roll start after she stalled on a hill.

She did give me a bit of a scare coming down one hill and I had to stop recording so I could concentrate on giving clear instructions.

I never once grabbed the wheel.

And one of the boy.. later down in the bottom paddock I did not grab the wheel at all and he really got the hang of it... not even 3 years old!!

It's good fun and back in the 70's I did the same thing when I was a young lad!!!

Yeah I remember me and my siblings doing this when we were younger, it was in a quiet industrial estate though :). Its always good having property, me and my mates use to thrash cars around a mates property just for fun. It certainly helps when getting onto the road as its less to worry about, you see so many people that struggle with just driving a vehicle let alone know whats going on around them.

Looks like they had a ball mate. Brings back memories of when my old man let me drive when i was young but with less "EFFN SLOW DOWN!!" And other more colorful language lol.

Looks like she's going to be a better driver than you soon.

Good one mate. As many have written, seeing that brings back some top memories of me old man and grandpa teaching me how to drive..

Great stuff Jono. Must be very rewarding to teach such a big life skill.

Heres my mates 13 y.o daughter driving a bit of the track at my place. Shes driving his patrol twice before but only in gravels pits. This is her first go on mud and first run up this track. (manual RB30 GQ)

Thats brilliant Lucas.... I wonder that could be anyone behind that glass??? he he!!

She ended up doing a couple of small donuts but the problem was that my new shocks are set to carry lots of weight and I have taken everything out to fit new carpet so the ride is harsh on the bumpy stuff making circle work a bit harder.

Erica will be tall and by the age of 12 she should be able to drive much easier and operate the clutch without having to put all her body weight to hold it in.

The first time she got on my lap to drive on a dirt road (on private property) she nearly crashed us but at 5 its too young to understand about big turns slow and little turns fast... I also forgot that I had an airbag in my old car and never let her drive that car again as when she is on my lap she is only inches away from the wheel.

Good videos mate. Tell her to keep her thumbs out of the wheel and not cross arms over. When I was her age my old man used to yell out at me for thumbs inside...

"Get your bloody thumbs out of the wheel son, if you hit a rock and the wheel turns you will loose your thumbs"....lol.....Still have nightmares about that!!!
