Normal driving on country roads I get 17.7/17.9litres per 100 Km. TD4.2T 2002 GU patrol. Doesn’t matter if I am towing 2.25 cubic meters of fire wood, 32 small bails of cow feed stacked 3.5meters high. Even driving around town all day. Normal driving using 5th gear, towing in 4th gear but still doing 100 plus Kmh. It is always the same. Anyone know why?

I'd be glad its not going up higher when towing lol mine sky rockets when towing (not a td4.2)

By "country roads" do you mean mostly dirt or gravel?

Has the engine got any mods? or is factory turbo and exhaust etc?

factory turbo and std exhaust. Mostly on the black stuff, 100kmh. Did a fire wood run in the wet, stayed in 4x4 an dirt roads for 50 odd Km still no change in fuel usages. Got me bugged.

Yeah it is a little high I would imagine 14-15 out of a wagon. Did you change the diff ratios at all?

Yeah it is odd. You seem to be getting towing figures all the time. A 3" exhaust and tune should help you a little. Does it have auto hubs on it?

Thanks for your input nissannewby. Maybe see what I get after the work is done. It will be in workshop down south for about a week.
