hey guys, this is my build thread on my patrol, most of the work i have done has been over the last couple of months but i will update as i go along as well.

i bought this patrol in march with an ARB Sahara bar, Beaudesert 2.57inch exhaust, airbags in rear suspension, uhf, duel batteries, IPF spotties. i have since then completed a 2 inch lift using Dobinson coils and EFS shockies, genuine snorkel, Autometer boost and pyro with ebay pillar pod, installed my custom made drawer system back in from my last patrol, fridge slide, power panel in rear of patrol, got 16x8 black dynamic steelies with -13 offset with 285/75/r16 Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 Rib, then got 12000lb winch with dynema, did a custom wiring job to get plug inside, installed roof racks and awning. there is probably a lot more inbetween but thats a run over, i will post pics up of the process.

Great rig mate! Mines the same color as yours and have been looking for pics of one with 4 ribs for a while, now I have seen!

jarrah
30th June 2013, 09:04 PM
thanks guys i appreciate the feedback!
growler i havnt had any issues with dobinson springs before, i did however have a dud shockie from them on my last patrol but they covered it under warranty so no bad review from me. though this time i went with the EFS shocks for their great reputation, and i stayed with the dobinson springs for their great reputation.

hodge cheers mate, yeah i like the 4 ribs, i had them on my stock alloys on my last troll but went down to the 16 inch rims and 33inch tires, to me they look great. i have the white diamond which has a shine to it, not something i went for but gives it a shiny look which i am starting to appreciate!

ill whack some more pics up tonight of my build

this is a bit of work i did re-wiring the terrible control box of the winch. it didnt fit inside the bullbar where i could still access the plug and switch, and i really dont like the look of having a black box sitting on top of the bullbar so i did a bit of a re-wire job and put them in the car.

im pretty happy with the results, i think it could come in handy having the plug in the car without having to get all muddy etc getting out and plugging it in, leave that for the spotter! haha

installed the new rack the other day. instead of using the dodgy rubbers that came with the rack i used an old tyre tube then cut them down to size. gives better protection on the brackets rubbing on the gutters.

30956

30958

then slapped the old awning back up there an just about ready for the cape!!!

Yeh looks very nice. Definitely a role model rig for my car. As i said earlier pretty much exactly what my car is getting done.

Definitely! It gives the car a whole new meaning. Especially on a white car when it gets some black rims.

I "WAS" going to color-code my black arb bar but decided not to do so. Gonna keep the whole black and white theme.
No build thread or many photos yet mate. Car at the moment is stock as rock, apart from bull-bar and snorkel.
I have most of the parts still in box sitting at work lock up. Winch, UHF, awning, beaudsert exhaust, etc... Just waiting on some more funding for tyres and lift, arb rear bar and racks, then the car's gonna go in to get everything done in one shot. Will definitely post a build thread, once it's all on.

did a bit under the hood the other morning, reason i did this set up was because nissan couldnt do anything about my patrol pulsing because of the exhaust being to big. well i got sick of it and went down the road of dawes an needle again. here are a few shots of the set up. i have made it so i can put it back to original in 2 minutes using orginial hoses if need be.

The build looks great. As a few others have said, the transformation just from putting the different wheels on makes it look fantastic. This is very similar to how I want mine to be, and given it's the identical car (year, colour, etc), it is great to know what the finished product will look like. Good luck with any future mods and I look forward to seeing more pics soon.

thanks guys, appreciate the feed back. a bit of an update; got the girl serviced at damn nissan dealer which meant manual boost out an just took wheels off for sake of it, took it in pretty stock.

didnt do my front left wheel up tight enough so almost lost it! when i put my 33's back on, i doubled checked them all!

got my new deep cycle the other day. did have a duel purpose marine type thing but fried the POS, always had problems with charge and the fridge cutting out. i have now been running my fridge for a week with minimal driving and still going strong at 2deg celsius :)

31787

changing my wheels, looks funny with both looks, i def prefer the black rims and bigger tires!

31786

complete stock look, dont mind it but much prefer other set up!

31788

this is my simple plug in manual boost control set up. it is set at 15 PSI and smooth spool up. it takes me just a couple minutes to get it in or out including securing it with zip ties etc.

what exhuast you running, 3"? as i have heard this can spike the boost to 20's and puts the car in limp mode

jarrah
16th July 2013, 11:11 PM
hey mate i have beaudesert 2.75inch from dump. with ecu control boost was getting up to just over 20psi but usually sitting on 12-13psi. i now have it set on max 15psi with my manual boost control and runs great. ive never had this patrol in limp mode.

cheers mate, should catch up and have a drive sometime, keen to meet some locals to get out more often. yeah ive been out the power line tracks a couple times, a day run and a night run. did a night run with a couple blokes form another forum. great fun. ive also done some tracks just south east from there in the national park, some gnarly hill climbs but nothing serious. also went through dwellingup over new years which was good, again some gnarly climbs. but all will be better with winter when the tracks get a little slippery.

what sorta patrol you get? must be good to be able to get out and about!

Installed catch can few weeks ago, did around 3000-4000km and got about 100mls out of it. also got the front of engine block oil leak replaced under warranty, whilst the job was getting down they had the gear box dropped and informed me on the condition of my clutch, didnt have too much left on it. went down the DMF road again just for comfortability and probably better for the car itself. i didnt have to pay for labour which was great, as it was under warranty, so only paid 2,000 grand for it. also went all out and got major service done so feels like im driving a new patrol around! bar the red dust haha. clutch still just needs to run in. hopefully hitting the tracks this weekend coming so hopefully some piccies!

righto well ill update whats been going down. had the patrol in for a warranty job on oil leak on the upper sump. whilst that was happening i replaced the clutch and decided on sticking with another dmf for now, at least while the girls still sorta young! got the patrol back and was impressed with the work on the oil leak, still to this day not a sign of any weeping. down side! nissan decided to stooge me and put a non genuine clutch in, with out my knowledge nor consent. long story short, drove like crap, huge clunk in 5th, complained, complained again, they took it back and replaced with genuine, now drives like new and no clunk!

anyway, shes running well now, i have noticed a leak up near the injector pump, which i have recorded and will monitor over the next few weeks, if it gets worse then i will take it in for another warranty check up! this is the link to the video, if you have any info or tips, let me know!

Did this rear barn door table today. Will put some photos up of most of the steps. I didnt want to drill into the frame of the barn door so put brackets behind hinges.

Dont really have that many tools so made do with what i have!

45848

Just cut the 'u' channel to get the little brackets to go behind the door card

45849

Bit of spray paint, the ply had a couple of strips that didnt absorb the paint enough so looks odd at the moment, will try for a fix

45850

mounting the hinges to the card before re-attaching to the door.

45851

using the brackets at the back with little nuts

45852

put them on loosely first to make sure all good

45853

tightened everything up with locktite as well, and then cut the screws off a bit so they didnt stick out too much. they fit inbetween the door frame where the cavity has the plastic over it.

45854

got the wire trace, heat shrink over the loop, crimped, then heat shrink over the crimp as well, looks pretty tidy

45855

attaching the elastic straps to hold the table up

45856

again just took the extra length off so it doesnt scratch on the paint of the door frame

45857

inside of the door card showing the brackets. they are different lengths to fit into the different spaces

45858

counter sunk screws holding the 'u' channel on

45859

attaching table to card before re-attaching to the door

45860

all construction done. just didnt have long enough screws to put the hooks on for the elastic straps. also need to give it a quick lick of varnish on the top of the ply. leaving the black just the matte black as it blends in well with the original door card

45861

45862

well with the table thought i might need some light! $10 for 5 metres off ebay! just wired them up off my rear power panel thats hooked up to aux battery, then ran it across and through the door and up to the brake light. ended up doing two strips so had to cut and solder couple more wires on. so far so good! really lights it up well and not too in your face.
