Hi guys
Can someone tell me what the clear silicon type stuff is that you pour over the led strips when making the strips water proof.
Cheers

Yes you can buy strips with & without it. With it is what you want for exterior use.

Yes, I forget what it's called. As kids we would encase scorpions and spiders in a mould and make key ring tags.

That stuff, which I also can't remember what it was called, was a clear & hard substance once set, whereas the stuff on the led strips is flexible, so not the same 'encapsulation' I think.

Thanks Cuppa, I guess I want to encase it on a metal strip, so flexing won't be an issue, maybe the double "silicone" will be too much!

Are you talking about covering where you solder on the wires? If so I covered the solder joints in liquid electrical tape and then with some heat shrink tubing.

No mate, the actual led strip. I want to lay the LEDs on a strip and pour resin over them if that makes sense.

Its a 2 part resin you'll be needing. Price's not too bad. I was going to use some recently on a piece of redgum.
Don't forget heat shrink for the ends
