Have pulled my new (old) winch apart and need to give it a good clean out inside.
Should I buy a $60 parts washer or should I just use a bucket, brush and fluid instead? Does the parts washer itself make the job any easier/better?
Cheers,
Drew.

I have one of these adn it works great, turn it on and you have a constant flow of degreaser

But! if you seriously only have a single job to do then save your money and buy a brush.
It has a lid and i leave it under the bench full of degreaser all the time and ready to go. When i need it it's a gem, the rest of the time it just takes up a bit of shelf space. About the size of a Box of Spuds at the Supermarket.

Parts washers are great, you can use a proper degreaser, remember, if a greaser doesn't take a layer of skin off when you touch it, it's no good

Agree with Ben and also reckon you should invest in one , then I know who to PM when I need to use one . Only round the corner too . Win win I say . Have you got it yet ?

I threw mine out on the footpath 2 months ago... big bugger to!!!
Waste of space for the amount of times it is used and then you have to deal with the waste and crap!!

The waste is certainly a consideration, where are you supposed to dispose of it?
I was just going to buy one of those $50 small jobbies but then I don't anticipate using it that much....

you have waste either way..with bucket or washer..give me a washer any day...less mess..though not for only a single job , if constantly doing your own work and builds etc then well worth it...give me a small sand blaster also please !

Most council refuse centres accept waste oil free of charge . what I do is mix the solvents with waste oil and get rid of the lot all in one go .
