Hey all. I have decided to start a new build thread because of the engine conversion.

Year/Make: 1998 GU ST RD28Ti. now with a 2003 TD42Ti engine and box. When installed engine had 173 ooo Ks

The Patrol had the common 'wobbles' so I have just gone through it and replaced all bushes/castors in the front end. I have also lifted the wagon 2"s and want/need an extra two.

The sound system has been changed to Alpine with all type R speakers, roof mount DVD player and a heavy duty reverse camera so I can check my load, got a strong one because I don't want to crunch it... again.
Diff ratios 4.6:1.
Roof Cage Rack
The exhaust is a 3" (including dump pipe) custom mandrel bent with no muffler.
TJM bull bar
24" Great White LED bar on the bull bar (75 watt/6375 lumens)
MICKS retrofit GUIII lights (50 watt/ 4300 lumens)
30" LED light bar on the roof (180 watt/13000 lumens)
8" Flood Light for the rear (30 watt/2250 lumens)
Racetech Pyro and boost Gauges. --- Need to install
GME TX3100 UHF
pwr0381 Radiator.
12000lbs Dyneema rope IMAX winch
Mickey Thompson 315/75R16 ATZ 4 Rib tyres---Soon to come
16" Mickey Thompson Sidebiter wheels---Soon to come

I Have just finished installing all the mechanical side of the conversion. Now I am just waiting on the new hoses and also finding out that the RD28t fan is different to the TD42ti, which hopefully will give me more clearance as I dont like how close it is ATM.

NEW MOUNTS. Hopefully two bolts in the mount will pass, if not then im gonna have to get a flexy drill lol. (NSW engineer cert needed)

Once Killa Kustom Kables is done with my new wiring harness I can then install my new goodies. GME TX3100 UHF, Reverse LED and then put my roof rack and roof LED light bar back on.

I got a spare sunglasses holder for the roof so I can play with one as I am placing my Boost and Pyro gauge in it... some how haha.

Oh and I also just ordered some of these

Not bad for somebody who has never done any major mechanical stuff. Luckily the father in-law was there to help with the conversion. One thing I did learn is make sure every bit of aircon is out before you pull it apart as is does make for slimy eyes... but we wont tell anybody that...

Engine is in and running now. The roof rack is off and the car loos naked haha. I dont have my 35" tyres yet. The speedo is out and hopefully will be fixed when they are on. 55 is really 60 and 120 is really 100. not sure if this is exact as I am just using GPS speedo atm, it could be 5 out too.

After all the confusion with how to do the conversion I found out its rather easy. All you need is the gearbox cross member and the tail shaft from both so you can change them to suit by pulling one end off and placing it in the other. Get some engine brackets made up to bolt onto the engine and if your going from a rd28t then you need the clutch lines as its on the other side of the box but the ZD30 isnt. There is no need to cut your chassis at all. Plus a radiator. Then you just get Kustom Kables to make you the wiring loom so you dont have to pull your dash out and kick her over. If you have it all sorted its really a 3-4 day job. However Due to rain and finding what is needed along the way It took me a Cruisy two and a half weeks.

Waiting on the winch bracket so I can put in the new 12000lb winch. When the roof rack goes back on she will look normal again

All I can say is the power is amazing, huge difference! Dont regret the change. Even chipped and 3" on a 2.8 doesnt compare to a standard TD42Ti

Looking good mate. Gotta feel good having done it all yourself.

It gets better, those motors are so much nicer once you let them breath a little better. Bring on the mods :)

Yeah once she is sorted and engineered I will be looking into some intercooler and turbo mods.

True Didnt think there were many people down this way haha.

Yeah that td42ti is so much better in every way. I have been reading up about them for a while and couldnt resist doing the change.

Oh and nissannewby The fan sits a good 60mm further back. They bolt onto the front part instead of the back, so the thickness of the fan is how far back it sits. Had to get an Nissan fan because the aftermarket suppliers didnt make one to suit.... $190 later. Although compared to the aftermarket ones they look and feel better quality

@ Florix, fuel wise how much are you carrying.
Be nice to have 225LTRs for trips like the TIP.
especially with the remote prices asked, Fill at Coen
on the way up and again on return, would that be possible?
Don't have map near me ATM. So when you doing a shake

Just finished fitting my 4" flexi from suspension stuff with amada shocks. Oh and the old man bought a safari the other day which now has my 2" lift in it. Only thing is it had a new paint job so had to put her all back together. Love the sway bar disconnect on the GQ do it from the drivers seat. Plus the PTO is a weapon on her too.
