Guys, one of my best mates has just had his TD42T Gq stolen from Kew at 5.30am this morning.
It is white LWB with a Trevaskas Nissan sticker on the rear door paintwork.
It also has a small ding low down on the passenger side rear quarter panel.
I was only warning him of these being targets for thieves two weeks ago. He wasn't too concerned then because he lived in a quiet street in Kew.
Anyway the word is all these GQs are being broken up somewhere out Healsville way and being sent to the Middle East where they fetch top dollar.
EDIT: forgot, it also has a Kaymar rear bar with jerry holder, wheel carrier and work light.

its pretty sad that when some low life takes something that don't belong to them especially their loved patrol. I feel for him and will keep a watch out if I see it roaming.

You would think it stupid to steal from where they are doing the chop work, then again thieves are stupid!

I think the fact our jails are full to overflowing would suggest, in general, that the criminal element amongst us in society isn't very bright!

Yes but I prefer the more expensive ones say up to $100... then use a telstra card as it has the best coverage.

I guess a $35 is better than not having one at all mate and as long as you go with a good provider that gets good coverage you should be right..... no point in a Vodaphone sim card and you cant get coverage 10 min up the road??

No worries. That's a good idea. I might cover the wiring rather than the location of the switch......

Quite simple for use diesel blokes, just run a switch on the power side of the fuel cut off solinode. Mine got done when new, and by having 2 identical switches right next to each other it takes a while to get.. the other is the spotties.

When you mean Kill switch, would that be for the remote detonate switch for the highly stable binary explosive you have stashed in both sill panels?

Gps Tracker 4x4 stolen at 5.30 you don't notice till 2-3 hrs later your pride and joy is missing.
Thieves have 2-3 hours to locate and disarm your tracker. They would know where most ppl fit them
etc. They have also targeted the V8 landcruisers, Lucky I have a grenade yoo hoo, Cant even give these away.
And yes I have a tracker plus Tyson

Hi all. Sorry to hack your thread, but my Gq was stolen from Coburg last night. Millweld customs front bar, led light bar, spotties, 3 inch lift, 33s muddies, arb roof rack, led rear work light. It's the third time in 12 months it has been cracked. Last time they snapped a blade in the ignition and FK'd that, cleaned out what they could. This time the A-holes got the whole thing. I have spoken to my neighbours, some of which have been hear for over 20 years. No one else has had any trouble, which makes me think it has targeted.. Anyway. I just had to get that off my chest.

Where did the Healsville info come from?
I bought a quite a few bits from a young bloke in Healsville when I first got the Patrol, he had the rolled car in his back yard. He kept banging on about a mate who had a wreckers and had lots of Patrol bits and said he had an arb winch bar but kept stalling when I said I would buy it.

Poor old 'Basil' my 2.8 GQ Patrol went walkabout from my driveway in Newcastle 2 days after we got back from a trip in January 2011. With only 178,000km on the clock, bull bar, Warn winch, snorkel etc and excellent bodywork it was a great vehicle. I thought at the time it was a targeted theft since we live in a pretty safe area. I thought it was probably stolen for parts and got the chop shop treatment.
At the time I was given the 'Third Degree' by GIO insurance for the miserly $5,900 they eventually coughed up. So I feel for you HTB and Drewboyaus's mate but there may not be too much hope of seeing your Patrols again.
However on a brighter note my 2008 GU 3L CRD auto, 'Boris' is a much more comfortable vehicle with more power. Like the GQ its an ex-NSW Police vehicle hence bull bar, Warn winch, driving lights, dual battery and tow bar were already fitted.
I reckon the low life that are at this sort of thing eventually receive their just deserts, it is only a pity not to be able to witness it. Harsh!!?

Just reading this old thread... has anyone actually installed a GPS tracker in their vehicle?
What is the best way to go?
There are two on ebay that seem they will do the job.

The trackers can be jammed or removed within minutes with the right tools. Sadly those tools are cheap and available.

So what's the best method? I already have an immobilizer, would it be worth installing a kills switch too?
I calculated last night that I've put 23k into my GQ (including vehicle), the highest insurance quote I was able to get was $17k.
If it went missing, not only would I lose my pride and joy, but I'd be out of pocket 6 large ones!
