Well its that time of year again. Getting nice and cool all over the country.
We've had a nice cool snap in the last few days here, minus 3 this morning, both taps frozen so had to bucket some water from the laundry to de-ice the commo lol. Didnt get above 10 today.

Just went outside 5 minutes ago and theres already a decent frost on the trol! Frost settling at 8:30pm is pretty rare.

Keep toasty everyone and enjoy a nice scotch or two:)

Fire has been going here for the last month or so and does't get as cold as you place.

Think I'm going to run out of wood before I get out and cut some more :( Might have to give the Nature gas heater a work out, I here they are putting up the price of gas :( BA@TARDS!!!!!!

yeh not worth having a fire place if you can't source the wood for free and own a chainsaw, cheaper to run nature gas if you can get it

Yeah nothing beats a nice wood heater even with the extra effort of cutting wood. The house I just bought only has a heat pump. They're great cause they're easy but got nothing on a flame

We planted 300 odd trees for stock shelter and wood, 19 years ago. Glad we did that, as I think getting wood from the forest has been restricted now.

I get my wood either from my mate's parent's farm or Mum's boss's land..... there's enough for the whole forum there!

Use to source our own, but our friends got greedy and we lost the right..
But yea, bottled gas is our only option.. the line stops 5 houses down, but 5g to run a line, f that...

Its been restricted here for ages, need to buy a permit and there are only certain areas you can get from.

I find it funny the RFS here can control burn a sh!t load of acreage for bushfire protection, yet I can't legally walk into the bush and take a piece of dead wood.

I am lucky enough that a mate is a Ranger and has a magic set of keys that access all the local forests.
He scouts out some decent old fallen redgum and we head there on a Saturday morning, spend several hours cutting and splitting the wood and fill the trailers.
We then have the afternoon to drive some decent forest tracks that his keys can access, followed by getting blind drunk and camping the night in the forest.
