Hi all

My gq bonnet has alot of stone chips on the leading edge of the bonnet and at this stage I can't be bothered respraying it, but I've seen lots of sales on eBay for bonnet protectors. They don't really show what the patrol looks like with it on and I can't seem to find many pictures elsewhere so I was hoping if anyone out there was sporting a bonnet protector on their q's and could share some pics.

Cheers

Andy

Always thought they looked like a good idea. Was thinking about getting one for mine.

Thanks clunk, I do like the look of them. Unfortunately westy, I'm not a fan of stone chips. It's like rust, I just can't have it there!

I've got one that came with my car. I took it off because it continually got clogged up with leaves and crap. The only good way to clean it was to take it off, clean it out, put it back on. PITA.

It probably needs a cleanup but it's anyone who wants it.

Bugger. I just purchased one an hour ago. Should have just waited and made the trip to the central coast.
Thanks gqsweep.

I have a 50mm strip of clear mylar on the forward edge of bonnet and above headlights,
neat as, can't see it and tuff as

If you cant get Mylar some thick clear acrilic contact might be the go, like what they
use on motor bike tanks

That stuff is called "bodyguard" vinyl. Most signwriters will have it. Bit expensive (although cheaper than a plastic one) but nice and thick, and clear. The best bit is that if it does get scratched it stays clear instead of getting a white scratch. Also it can be removed leaving beautiful untouched paint. And no leaves or mud get stuck under it

Ha, gets worse. My brother in law lives at Albion Park. Could have had it at his place in a fortnights time. :)

^^Ha. That's awesome. :)

I like the idea of that clear strip to act as a superficial layer.
I've got some lying around somewhere, might have to find some high wear areas where I could use it...

As a bug deflector you could fashion some perspex up and bolt it to the top of your bullbar?
Similar to how MACK trucks have them half way up the bonnet, I used to have a clear one on my other 4by
and can vouch that not one bug hits the windscreen, only needs to be small maybe 2-3 inches high.
I'll put pic shortly

I have been looking at these as well, I have a nice dent on one side of my bonnet from the antenna mount on my bull bar - I just kissed a tree and the bar flexed back a bit.

One of these protectors would hide the bend

I also suspect the truck had one on as there are a couple of scuff marks

Fitted it today and am happy with how it looks. It came with little rubber bumper sticky tabs to put on the bonnet to stop the bonnet protector from chaffing away the paint.

Some one at some stage made a protector that attaches to the top of the bull bar. Bit agricultural but it works great. ill get a photo up for laughs sake if any.

Got mine from this mob but only because they're local to me...... been too lazy to fit it though. Should probably get onto it on the weekend.
