View Full Version : Factory rear bumper mounting question GU6

Hey folks. Mounting a factory bumper back on. Currently car is wearing a Kaymar bar. Never done this before, so I'm treading new waters here. Below is a picture of what Ive scored. The bumper and re-enforcing bar with a bunch of associate bolts.
I noticed it's missing the little hook/latch point in the middle which makes me wonder if it's missing anything else. I'd like to do the homework and make sure I have everything before I begin the process.
Any ideas? Anybody took one of these off or on, and what am I looking at or missing? Thanks ahead!

Hodge,
The loop bolts to a bracket which is welded to the rear chassis rail, which sits flush with the hole in the middle of the bar reinforcement bracket.
I haven't taken it off yet, but it looks fairly close, except for the loop.
I may be interested in the Kaymar Bar too .....

Thanks happy. That little tow point, or whatever it is, sits on the square bit in the middle with 4 bolts, just like the photo below. (borrowed from Google images). That answers that. So basically that square bit is what will be protruding through the gab in the bumper (middle), but without the tow thing attached. I can then add it later on without having to remove the bumper completely again. That's what I was sort of confused about a tad.

I have been spending way too much money lately anyway, with custom water tanks, exhausts, and long range fuel tanks, etc, etc.....
Darren .... I am still interested though ..... maybe have to distract you somehow for a couple of weeks ...... Great News ... there is mud in the Otways .... and will be for the next couple of weeks .....

To answer the Kaymar bar question. It may or may not be.... Long story short, I'm getting a color-coded ARB in the near future.
Deciding factor will be if my mate is still interested in the Kaymar bar. Will know monday. If not, then yeh, it'll be up for sale. Price? I'll have to do some homework on that.
