Hi all
Having dramas finding the right bolt size for the rear dickey seats supports(four bolts holding the seat down). Anyone know what size I'm after?
Thanks all for reading
Andy

If you think they are 12mm the pitch will be 1.25 , Most bolts will be 1.25 pitch.
Which is metric fine thread. You'll need 12mm x 1.25 x whatever length you want.
4x4 shop will have heaps lying around, buy zinc plated and grade 8

Thanks for the quick reply 3d, although I don't think the 12mm is the right size. It's around the 10mm size and I've tried both a 1.25 and 1.5 thread pitch but I'm not happy with the way it feels going down, so before I strip any threads I just want to confirm what the correct size is. Funny thing about the cargo section in the gq is some of the anchor nuts are 1.5 thread pitch and others are 1.25. Very confusing!

Dont have a tap you can run through them, my money would be 10mm x 1.25, just some Crep in the thread or thread just damaged over the years
You're too far away as I'll have my tap and die set over at 4x4 shop tomorrow. bummer

Cheers 3d, hoping it is 10mm 1.25. Might have to source a tap elsewhere, or if someone can confirm the correct bolt size, then I'll just run the bolts down.

FWIW I believe there are some 'odd' threads on our Patrols.
At the rear of the chassis on mine, on both sides, facing outwards, is a threaded hole (captive nut inside the chassis). These had never been used on my ute & I assume they are for another purpose on other models. When trying to get bolts to fit them to mount a spare gas bottle holder I was unable to get a bolt to fit. At a local specialist fastener supplier we went through everything which seemed close but were unable to find anything to suit, either metric or imperial. I was there for ages because they (& I) just couldn't believe that nothing would fit. The thread is quite a fine one & I suspect possibly the same size you are looking at. I did eventually take a metric fine bolt which was a very close but slightly loose fit, would screw in, but it let go when tightened. In the end I used a smaller bolt & a different nut (welded onto the end of some wire) inside the chassis through the same hole. I'm betting that for some unexplainable reason it is a Nissan specific, or possibly an automotive specific thread.

I think if memory serves correct, then M10, fine 1.25 thread and around 25-30mm long. Don't go longer specially on the passenger side as there's some wires and stuff that run along the top of the chassis (well on mine there are) which you don't want to pinch between bolt and chassis rail.
PS... Got mine from Supercheap
Don't slap it, tap it!!!!

Parksy,
Pretty sure they are 10mm Metric fine thread, as I just bought some a few weeks ago....
I have a bolt in the drink holder, so I will measure it in the morning.

Thanks all for your responses. I've managed to get the 10mm 1.25 thread pitch bolts in. Had a check underneath and i can see what clunk meant about possibly crushing the looms. Good advice.
Thanks all.
