Td42 engine cuts out after starting....then restarts?

Hi Guys,

When I start my Y60 4.2 non diesel from cold it often starts fine, runs for a couple of minutes.....then dies. I really seems like fuel starvation or similar as the dying is gradual?

Once I reheat the glow plugs, and pump the accelerator and restart...it eventually picks up, and thn runs fine....

Any suggestions? I have tried searching threads but not finding much similar.....I am thinking glow plug or fuel issue, but would welcome any help!

erm....doh. that should read 4.2 diesel non TURBO!!!!! not non diesel.... that would be a different problem altogether.....

Changed to fuel filter lately

Check each one of your Glow Plugs for Open Circuit, and replace as necessary.

I think that this will most likely be your solution.

Try pumping your fuel filter primer prior to starting in the morning. If it isn't already hard pump it until it is, if it requires pumping air may be getting in somewhere.
