So a big thanks to nissannewby for helping me learn how to use a multimeter and test it. Well we went for a drive after being at his house and after just over an hours drive home and most of it at 100kmh I stopped to put air in the tyres and when I went to start it, it wouldn't so I had to push start it. So basically the alternator is had it. Does anyone know what the going rate for a new or reco one is and what size should I get? I had a quick look on ebay and they range from $160 - $700 I haven't got a dual battery yet or driving lights, fridge etc but they are on my wish list, so an upgrade would be advisable? Also any ideas on a reputable place to get a new or reco one in Brissy. Engine is a TD42

Thanks Rob

I'd go for a 100amp job, Patrolapart do them for $350 approx
I think'I just replaced mine for $380 but that was OE.
My bad not sure of 4.2 prices
