Hey all,

When I first bought my p-troll back in march I was told by the salesman that I'd get 10.5L/100km on average. After owning it for a few months and doing the math I get around 11.2L/100km or 12.3L/100km if I ride her like a $2 hooker. Are these figures in the right ballpark? GU II 3L auto w/- a bullbar and two driving lights oh and a poxy wind deflector thing on the back.

Also any tips or tricks to get a lil bit more fuel economy out of her will be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers,

Country_GU

That sounds pretty normal mate if anything on the better side for an auto.

Ok good to hear its about on the money, yeah it's got a 2thou top end mated with a 2k4 bottom end fully rebuilt and has only got 80 thou on the clock (body has done 380 thou though) runs smooth and looks great.

Also going a little off topic, do the older style hand primers tend to leak as much as the new ones, she cranks probably 5-8 times before springing to life on first start in the morning, and runs a little rough for a bit, once she gets some heat, good as gold! Any ideas on what that is?

i wish i was close to those figures, i get minimum 16l/100 up to 23l/100 may have something to do with my leaking intercooler though :P

@ country GU what size tyres you running?
@ Ben e I'd expect a ute to get better than a wagon on weight alone.
Back to OP I get 12.8lt/100 on 305 muddies around town
I tend to drive in a manual style using Auto to slow down etc.
Tyre pressues play a big part in fuel consumption too. HWY I use 40psi
and 35ish around town. Try different pressures to suit your driving.

@ Jodaniels need to have a look at your Maf sensor maybe

I'm getting 11.5 on 32 tyres, and last week towing 3 tonne 17.3. I watch the pyro gauge and watch my right foot on the go pedal to obtain these figures.

Clean MAF sensor first then look straight at your glow plugs & glow plug rail (buzzbar), usually the issue with those symptons, buzzbar failure can be attributed to a leaking intercooler, you have to take the intercooler off to get at glow plugs anyway, pretty easy job to swap out & cost $120 for 4 glow plugs, in the mean time glow you plugs up 2-3 times in the morning before you kick it over

G'day Country boy,
had a 4.2 td and now got a 3.0 CRD .
The new one isn't quite as good as the 4.2 but I'm getting about 11.6 to 12.3 l/100 Km..
Doesn't seem to vary much between country and city driving.
My old daddy tought me to keep the pedal OFF the metal and avoid braking like the plague (or certain types of ladies who I possibly should have tried at leats onece). A good guide was the number of people who told you your brake lights weren't working. Gently up and gearing down, Smooth.
I'd like better but remember, you've got a wagon with top capabilities and that will take more juice than a poxmobile.
Good luck with your gentle touch. Your bird will appreciate it

Nothing to see here...They are great figures...I don't get those figures and I drive moderately. You're doing something right!
