Hopefully I am posting in right place here.
Basically wondering of anyone has lived or worked here and what their thoughts are. I potentially can get a job at ranger and the idea of living right in Kakadu is pretty appealing.

Have only visited the place as a tourist & am envious of the opportunity you have. It's a small township with a couple of shops & caravan park. Nothing special, but quite liveable I'd reckon. I imagine it would be a very different place outside of tourist season. I would love to be able to experience a wet season up there.

Yeah it's my thoughts so far, would likely only be for a year unless we really fell in love with place. Have friends in Darwin which is less then 3 hour drive away and from what I have heard Kakadu is pretty amazing place. After living in Roxby downs for the past three years am pretty keen for a change.

I know Jabiru quite well and also been to Roxby Downs with work on more than a few occasions. We lived in Darwin for 13 years and number one son worked at Ranger for about 2 years and Arnhem Land communities for another 3 or so.
Jabiru is a mix of a typical mining town (1/3) tourism (another 1/3) and gov't centre. I quite like the place but 90% of Kakadu is a total con job POS and 10% is almost indescribably awesome. The advantage of living up there (any of the Top end) is the local knowledge and spots you can access.
If you and any family that will be with you can handle humidity and I mrean endless days of it then I would be off to Jabiru like a shot. We loved every minute we were in the top end and it was only family issues down south that ended up making us leave.
