Hey guys, so im installing my new 6 inch lift into my gu patrol ute. With words from my mates/people they say the 8 crossmember bolts holding your gearbox up are always a pain when trying to loosen to install drop boxs. More than likely they all snap -_-, does anyone no any tricks or ideas for loosing them without having to drill / tap them out? besides the obvious work them out/releasing agent?
Thanks

soak it in yield for a couple of days before , give the bolt head a good tap with a hammer just before you undo it, hope that helps a bit

Similar to Benno, I give them a few decent sparys of WD40 over a week, then when I go to undo them, heat them a little with a blow torch and with an old socket on the head of the bolts, give it a smack with the hammer. I started doing that with my Patrols after I snapped the bolts on my wagon and had to drill and tap new threads which resulted in me ending up in hospital with steel shards in my eyes because of poxy cheapo 'safety' glasses LOL

The outside bolts are not too bad because u can see the exposed thread. Lots of wd40, wire brush and even an old sharp knife to run through the threads to help clean them out. Then unbolt. If it starts to get tight, stop before you shear it, and spray both top and the now exposed section of thread. Wind it all the way in again and unbolt and repeat the process. Try and wind the wd40 into the Nut. It's painful, but everything is better than removing sheared bolts. The inside bolts just need alot of wd40 and winding in and out and the tips as above.

as Above mate, but have you tried them? Mine just unscrewed no worries and that's on a 24 year old GQ!
