I was told recently that I needed to replace the turbo ??? every 150000 km so you don't have to replace your turbo, but can't remember what it was. Spoke to my mechanic - thought it was a filter but he says they don't have a filter. Anyone know what it is?

Generally replace a turbo when it shows signs its failing. Most running factory tunes will last longer than 150k

Yep mate It is some little trick of the trade that helps to make it last longer so you don't blow your motor. Will try to contact the bloke that told me if I can find his number. thanks for the quick reply anyone bud

Possibly a cartridge or bearing change but this comes down to lubrication.

Don't know if this will help, but I changed all my turbo gaskets and the manifold gasket at the same time, and it goes like a rocket, now.

That will give poor performance but shouldn't effect reliability unless it can induce foreign particles. The best maintenance I know of for turbos is good air filtration, good oil and service intervals, warm up and cool down.
