Hi fellars I'm new to this so I will tell you a bit about myself i'm origionaly from vic now qld my playground in vic was around dargo to wallhala area i started out with toyota hj60 then got a gq wagon to go around the island in and would never go back i now have gu 3ltr i know they hav'nt got the best record but i cant falt mine i put a 3inch,highflow cat and a snorkal in it and away she went i don't go off road much theses days more of fishing trips up north which brings me to my question i am thinking of cutting the back off her just above the windows i supose you would call the look a exta cab style side ute i have been told to join where the panels meet ? would i need to strenthen the sides espestialy the back corners to hold the doors up? I have had a price from a mob at carrum downs drive in drive out starting at $11,000 does this sound high ? any advise would be great also i live in the whitsuday area is there anyone around here from rocky to townsville i could talk to

Welcome Larry, as to your question, $11000 doesn't go far in a panel shop these days.
If the finish is good both inside and out it may be a good option for you. Need to wait for a few with greater knowledge to reply.
Might get a better response in another thread as intros is not always responded too as many might not open it.
Maybe body, paint & trim or general discussions.

Hi Larry,
If you are going to spend this amount of money for a conversion, then you will need to keep the truck for a very long time to recoup your investment. I would also factor into the equation, money for an engine freshen up.
I am not normally one to think the worst, as i love the 3L and know of quite a few early 3L Di's that are still going strong, but depending on what year model yours is, you may need to spend something on it sooner than later

Pic is of Antmans GQ ute "style side" from memory the tail gate was two small doors
After it was cut the ute section had "C" section welded on top, BTW it runs a 454 efi Chev
