View Full Version : Cross Country Catch Can

Does anyone have a Cross Country Catch Can on their fourbie? If so, does it catch anything?

This unit is sealed at the top so can't be opened like a lot of others. Cross Country told me that it has aluminium baffles on the inside for the oil to attach to.

I am thinking of getting one as part of an intercooler upgrade, so it is easier to get both installed at the same time (by CC).

Well, to answer my own question I just spoke to a friend who put one on his 3.0DI motor last year. He emptied it this morning after 7000km and about a coffee cups worth of sludge came out.

Is this a similar amount to other catch cans for the kms done?

I'd prefer a unit which has a bypass valve in it so in case the catch can becomes blocked it doesn't lead in to big problem. I'd also prefer a professionally designed catch can/oil separator which is easy to disassemble, has spare parts available and is proven and reliable. Me thinks that Provent ™ ticks all those boxes. I believe that Provent is also cheaper.

ive got the provent like many others here
had it on over 16months at present ive only collected approx
550ml in 600ml coke bottle in that time maybe 10,000 ks
i know ive done quite a few

Provent 200 is a proven catch can , dont be caught up with a salesman spruking their product,

with the catch cans do they need a breather on them

Sounds like they are doing a similar job over that time period. I know the Provent gets good reviews by everyone but i am also investigating the Cross Country unit as its made here in Radelaide. The bypass valve does sound like a good idea though.
Food for thought. I might go over to CC and see what type of baffle they use.
