Does anyone know if it is illegal to fit a homemade winch cradle in any Aussie state. And does having a winch and cradle affect my insurance?

P.S. I have done a search and have found nothing so far.

No idea on home made jobies but check in VSB 14 for light vehicle mods or your local RTA.

Shouldn't affect insurance in a negative way. Current troll and previous BT50 both with winches had no dramas with insurance

If it fails You'd be in the Poo. Have seen heaps made over the years
never heard of any law so to speak relating to a cradle, Would think as long as you know what you're doing
and take into account any forces encountered, and over engineer it , you should be fine, thats my 2cW

No way would I weld to a chassis anyway. I am hopeless at welding, so I might tack it and get someone to weld it properly. Kallen has offered to make one for me, but I want to try, for braggin' rights. I will try with gal steel, or is there an issue with it.

Yeh I had awsome fun welding let me know when you want to do yours I will come over and give you a hand and maybe mod my roof racks to fit my light bar and maybe some sliders.

Back to the legalities I think if your car has airbags and the mods/ cradle or bar affect them then it becomes illegal.
