hi all
my 01 gu is starting to play up a bit
it has had a lack of power for a while now and its getting worse and worse. at first i thought it was bad turbo lag but now i think its something wores.
it starts fine idles fine and its not blowing smoke but its lacking power big time and occasionaly the engine light was coming on.
i changed the fuel filter and it run a little better for a few days, then i cleaned the mass air flow sensor with the proper spray and the engine light stays on now and its still running like a bag of s*#T !
also i have noticed a fair amount of oily residue on the air filter the last three or four time i have changed it,

Should i go out and get a new maf sensor and would this fix the problem or is it sounding like a injector pump or turbo problem

any info would be greatfull
cheers

Hay mate, not to sound rude but have you researched your question??
Heaps of info on your issues in the gu section, and I'd say it is the MAF sensor without owning a 3ltr, just from what I've read.

But it sounds like you've left it A long time. You may need to pull the intake system off and give it a good clean..

Get yourself a can of MAF cleaner from SCA remove MAF and spray heaps ,.Allow to dry and re fit.
Might also be time to think about fitting up your ride with NADS,
Search Chaz Yellowfoot ing the archives heaps written Pics what and where to buy.

Where do you live. You could try my MAF if it helps.

Definitely sounds a little like the classic MAF problem.

As Mudski said, try and find someone in your area who has a spare, or is willing to let you try theirs to see if it helps

Try and find someone with a diagnostics computer at find what fault is throwing the engine light.. not sure of your instrument cluster but I'm guessing you have oil pressure?

Unfortunately I can only suggest a good mechanic. Ring around first and get some prices to diagnose.

Pull the i/c hoses off and check for oil then head for the intake by the sound of it
the intake is chocked up with gunk,at least look before spending to much hard earned

if you find out the engine is ok and was the maf sensor put a catch can on. and then start looking at doing nads. its worth doing to help save another ZD30.
