Hey all, was thinking time to spray up those old white sunnys with something better... Black or gum metal grey... Something like that. Anyone done this with success and can someone point me in the direction of a website with good details on doing this.
Thanks

Best get the rims sandblasted first, then primed .
Then a top coat of your choice ,Sandblasting gives primer something to
bite onto cheap enough to powder coat if this is GU a few things need to be done first.
Or just clean and scour with a scotch bright pad and some enamel spray cans of your colour

When I sprayed the GU steelies I got, they were in awful condition. I spent a lot of time sanding them back. I wasn't going to get them sandblasted as they had tyres on them and wasn't going to get them taken off for this. Anyhow, after a lot of sanding until they were smooth I gave them a coat of undercoat, let them dry in the sun for a day, then about four coats of Stain black with a light sand in between.
Each coat the wheels sat in the sun for a whole day. If the air is cold the paint won't dry quick enough. You need a few coats of paint on them. In the end they came up good. Cheaper than sandblasting. Not a better job than sandblasting but cheaper and good enough for me. It ain't no show car.

cheats way if you don't want to over spray the tyres is to paint on a tyre shine before spraying

According to me you should install some kind of graphics on your rims because the simple paint is not work like that as you are define or you want to do. Now many car companies provide such kind of services as well as private car care centers.
Hey mate, thinking of spraying my rims as well, where do I find these graphic thingys you are talking about?
