Hey guys,

Couple of topics here, cleaned the MAF on the old girl and redid the boost line to the gauge,WOW! Power difference much, crisper throttle response and smoother acceleration, PLUS no more boost leak (who uses radiator hose for boost line!?)

Also I've found that oil is starting to leak into the turbo/intercooler, I'm buying and installing a catch can soon, but what's the best way to clean an intercooler and the air path for the engine, I'm going to do an EGR block soon but I'm going to install a Dawes valve and needle at the same time to bypass the electronic boost controller, or! Or! Can I use say a GFB electronic boost controller instead of the factory one?

To clean the IC just remove it and run some kero or anything really to get rid of the oil. Degreaser etc etc. If using flammables make sure it's 100% dry inside before refitting.
The catch can, spend the coin and get a Provent 200. It has an actual filter in it which you can clean or replace. The GFB boost controllers wont work as they work on, well boost. Whereas the ZD30 turbo works on vacuum, not boost.

Dawes or manual boost controller is cost effective, cheap as you set and forget.
Takes thinking away from ECU, you now controll boost.
Clean IC with Petrol /Kero what ever is available, just make sure its completely
dry before re installing.

That's right because the zd30s run a variable vein turbo so "conventional" items can't be used.

I was looking at a Provent 200 as I've only read good things on it.

On a related note, what are some ways to get a bit more power out of the big girl but also not be killing my pocket?

Stealing an LS1 for it...
I have everything done on mine that can be done and you still ending up wanting more power. Remember its only a 4cyl diesel, it ain't no power house but they go great for what they are. Quicker than a TD42t out of the crate. But I'd love a TD42t...

@ Mego look up ziggy built trucks,
Only so much you can do with a 3 ltr if you want a rocket ship you have brought the wrong 4x4.
Trying to make the 3 ltr go fast is just a waste of money IMO, better spent elsewhere
if your after an honest 4x4 that'll do its job day in day out, you'd be hard pressed to find better
than a Nissan Patrol Straight from the showroom floor. Patrols tick all the boxes bar one, and
that is performance, but thats easily sorted aftermarket,as in engine transplant.

You can gets gains up to 20% with chip and exhaust, both need to be done together IMO
