I'd like to know how you get on with any info, as I would like to know what year model my TB48E came out of

From what I have been reading the only way to tell the age of engine is by having the VIN number of the vehicle the motor originally came out of

@ NGQ4.2 what if its just a block thats purchased and swapped out from blown/old motor??
Bare blocks may not have numbers until issued by rego branch,

I don't doubt you John, the original question was "Is there any way to find the manufacture date of a motor by engine number" so the op already has an engine number, as far as I'm aware the Nissan Patrol Engine numbers themselves do not have anything in there numbering to decode what year it was manufactured, For GQ's anyway not sure on GU's as I don't know a GU engine number.

And from previous experience many many years ago and from just a quick search on the net.........In Australia things like revs....etc will only work with a VIN / Chassis Number, RTA will not likely help you, Nissan won't likely help you and most police officers won't help you.

There are a few sites out there that you can use for car info......check if money is owing, reported stolen etc but nothing I know of for just Engine numbers

you can get that info from the rms or whatever they are called in 2nd class states i got this info chasing a dodgy mechanic they are not allowed to give that info out so be nice and polite and just ask for the year in which the motor was first registered.kev
