Sorry in advance as I know there's a lot of threads but can't find exactly what I need.

I have a GU4 with a 2" lift.
I have the standard rims.

I want to get BF Goodrich AT in a 315/70r17
Can I run these on the standard rims with my lift?

If not what options do I have? Steel rims with a negative offset? Body lift?

Thanks for the help in advance.

315*70*17 is roughly 35"x12.5"x17, so fitting that tyre onto to standard rim shouldn't be an issue as I think the rims are 8" wide. As far as lift is concerned, you may get away with not needing one but you may get som scrubbing on the fron mud flaps...... But the GU guys will be able to tell you for sure

Don't slap it, tap it!!!!

Thanks for the reply, it works out to be 34.3, just found a calculator, as for the mud flaps i will take them of if need be.

i just dont want any bad rubbing anywhere else

I have 33 inch tyres and the tyre fitters didn't want to fit them to the standard 17 inch rims .

You may have trouble with 35 inch and wider tyres too...

thanks, i guess ill be ordering some new tyres with in the next few weeks.

only other question is will one of the tyres on the stock rim fit where the spare goes?

my current tyre looks to be a tight fit. 285/70r17

ok mud flaps be gone :)

why did they not want to fit them to stock rims?
surely they are better then cheap steel rims.

You'll need a wheel spacer for the spare, whether you go a 33 or 35..... the ferret and also XLR8 on here do them with integrated rear light brackets

If yes why is this your first choice of tyre? I know BF have a very good reputation for tyre but if it was me this wouldn't be my first choice of tyre, I'm personally not sold on the tread pattern for an a/t, I recently bought new tyres and looked at alot of brands/tyres to see what was out there and eventually settled on Kumhos.

Cheers,
Eric.

Yer thats the tyre.
Most of my off road driving is on sand, from what ive read these tyres are great for sand and still good in other areas.

X 2 with above 35s dont fit the profile on rear door ,it needs to come out and up,
As for fitting 315s I'd think way too much rubbing for my liking, I have 2" lift
with 305s, no probles, try one on front first if possible, I'm still thinking tight fit.

@ Trekster. BFG a/t are a great all rounder, very high miles I got 110K out of a set of 4.
quiet, down side is IMO they don't like being aired down/up.
Plus tend to Tram track when worn a bit, look at the MT 4 rib job as an all rounder

Yeah id be looking at the Mickey Thompson 4 Rib or even the 5 Rib if all your off road is in Sand. the 5 Rib will be fine.

I have run 35s on my GUIV without too much trouble. Yes you need a rear door bracket to space and lift it to clear the bumper but not too bad. Call Ferret in the Vendors section for a Lift bracket wheel spacer. Nice!

The front mud flaps are off and i also had to trim the inside edge of the factory flares off to clear teh tyre on turning too. the bit i cut off i did with a Hack saw and it would be covered up if i ever refitted the mud flaps and i simply dont notice it any other time. I have a 3" lift and Drop Boxes though and this has put the front diff forward 10mm so you may have trouble.

Your just after a bigger footprint for sand or you desperately want to run a 35" tyre? A 305 profile is probably perfect for you mate.

I will check out the MT later, thanks

yes i mainly run sand but do go dirt when i can, i guss i dont need 35s, thats why i was looking at the BFGs as they work out to a 34.3.

Do they MTs 5rib come in a 305 35?

Just had a look and the MT 4 rib which is the one id pick only comes 305/65 which is a small rolling diameter then what i have now.
Ill be going 315/70/17 and if i need to lift it more when then thats what ill do.

What are body lifts like?

Heres mine 2" lift with 305s
Will look for better pic

If your only driving in Sand then you simply dont need 35s at all. in fact they would be to your detriment as they will suck a heap of your power away. The 305s above have a nice wide footprint and still about a 33 in rolling diameter and much much better suited to sand Driving. IMO

What size 305s are they?
Its just from what ive been reading the larger the rolling diameter the bettet suited to sand they are, plust the little extra diff clearence from them
I dont only drive in sand tho. I would say 75%.

What if i went a 315/75/16? On a more negative sitting offset rim?

Mudrunner, just found the black rim thread and seen you patrol.

I think I'm gonna go the 305/75r16, which works out to be a 34"
I like the rims you have too
