Hey Limmy. For that money I would go the one I got. Looks a shite load better too.

Plus they don't include the weld in boss you need for the pyro. It's only around $25 for that...
You also need a cup for the gauge or a pillar pod.

VDO part number for the weld in boss is 320.059. Howard Instruments in Heidelberg are the agents. (03)9457 4755

The dump pipe needs to be removed to weld in the boss for the pyro too. You will also need a fitting welded in on the boost side of the turbo, after the turbo and before the intake manifold, for the boost gauge. I got two in mine, one to feed the dawes boost and another for the gauge sensor.
Look up bulkhead fitting at a hose supplier like H.I.S Hose, or Pirtek, thats what I used but had them brazed in so they wouldn't leak.

Bulkhead fitting looks like these...

Any exhaust place can do it. But you need to take the dump pipe off though...

If your not doing any of the fit up then don't skimp on it and pay some bloke who is going to do it wrong!

Take your car to a decent guy (there are a few down your way) and pay them to supply and install your gauges and Tune your car on Their Dyno. Happy days.

The boost gauge in your link only goes to 15psi and is not high enough.

Give Biders a call in Cranbourne mate, he will tell you who the best guy in town is.

i will probably get another dump pipe. would a 2000 model zd30 has same dump pipe as my 2005 gu iv zd30 ?. that way i can take time to get the bung welded in. and still be able to drive my car

Some cut and gut the pipe then reweld no one needs to know.
Boost gage should have no neg boost, zero to 30 is the norm

Limmy

Any exhaust mods like going up in size, purely to get exhaust out as quick as possible.
with some performance gains, everyone wins

No. Straight after the turbo is the Catalytic converter . I gutted the cat on my old dump pipe, when I had to get the pyro bung weld in. If you are going to do it just remember there is a hefty fine if you are caught. Around 4k I believe. But if you want to do it, use an angle grinder and cut right on the weld where the cat meets the pipe. Scribe the pipe and cat first so you know the position it needs to be rewelded back to. Once the pipe is off using any weapon of choice to destroy the ceramic filter inside. Weld it back up and off you go.
But I do stress on the legalities of doing this. When I did mine, in all honesty. I didn't see any improvement with performance. I can't tell you about EGT's as I did the bumg at the same time for the pyro. But no difference in EGT's between the gutted cat and the 3inch system. Difference in performance though. So I just went a 3inch Redback exhaust instead. With a high flow cat too.

To your question. I honestly don't know. I'd assume they would be the same...As looking on Ebay at full systems, They just say for all 3ltrs. including CRD. The only difference I know is whether it's auto or manual. But thats for the mid pipe mounting I think.

I ended up pulling the dump pipe off . Got bung welded in . Costed me $15 from Havoc Fabrications in keysborough .

Thanks for the confidence guys . I saved a bit of money without getting someone to remove/install . learning how to pull the car apart now . Apart from some rounded nuts and broken bolts along the way

Well done. What about the skinned knuckles? Did you gut the cat too?

Limmy
10th June 2013, 05:45 PM
yeah couple of battle wounds. The heat shield was easy to take off though . I looked up instructions on the forums, did it within 30 seconds. nah didn't gut the cat , I'm going to wait and get full stainless steel exhaust done

mudski
10th June 2013, 08:38 PM
No need to pay extra for stainless mate. You won't notice any difference except for the price.

Limmy
12th June 2013, 06:50 PM
yeah be a while before i get exhaust done, i suss out the prices then . need to budget for new tyres soon

mudski
12th June 2013, 11:39 PM
Mild steel is all you need. Mandrel bent so the exhaust flows better and the Cat needs to be Hi-flow and have a metallic filter, not ceramic.

Finally all egt and boost gauge installed.

I was maxing about 15 PSI. Cant seem to go over 15psi.maybe i got a leak. ( no dawes yet )
