Got heaps of ideas going through my head ATM, this came about following legallities of pillar pods.
First off if you have a GU would you have one, colour coded of course, any wires or probes could be
directed down the vent

Pretty sure you can already buy them.
And check legalities, cause you will probable find there illegal 2

Seen it done on GQs, easier to blend in with all the square shapes in the dash. Would be a bit harder on a GU though I would think?

From another patrol site, they used a pajero pod holder and fabricated a face for it

What about utilising the panel that isnt used on some models, the one where the passenger air bag goes and people make gloveboxes with. If you make a replacement panel and have the gauges facing towards the driver it might be an option.

Thought of that but want to fit a 7" screen in there for navigation.
good idea though thanks. From where I was sitting the binnacle was not higher than bonnet,
so cant see how it can be illegal, but they would find away I would think.
I'll fab one up and see how it looks
@ Tonks never played mate, I'd just draw rude pics anyway

I think the trick is to make it 'look like it belongs'.
Just as if you fitted different seats. Make all the seat covers the same. If there is on racing bucket seat, red in colour, and the rest are old and ratty, there's no way it won't be the first thing noticed in a rego check/ roadside attitude check.
Make it look part of the dash, even so the dash mat covers it nicely.

Tritons also have one which is the same colour grey vinal as some or our busses. I think it would look good,

I hear you Kallen would be great if a Nissan dash pad or similar could be utilized.
I know early troopies {75s} had the 2nd tank binnacle on top of the dash but they are like
Rocking horse apples now, Mdf some foam and vynyl
Low profile nice big sweep to it might get 3 guages in it.

If your keen td the father in-law had a vacume cast thingy, uses it for his planes. I recon a block of foam fashioned into shape, then plastered, and sanded smooth it would make a grate cast for fibreglass..
I'm keen.. just bought a egt setup, soon the 2nd battery monitor and tossing up to go after market oil gauge or not..

@ Kallen before most mates retired or took golden handshake
I had full use of Qantas workshop with that Vacuum former amongst other equipment.
thats why I refere to some things as coming from "Q-Mart"
They were my go to Quality controll, Got my head around it now ,
Even if I make a MDF sample it may be good enough to form others
How many thou can it do. They make great map pockets IMO lol
@ Lucas always been a Paj thing, they tell me sort after now, don't know why.
if elbow touches ground you have rolled easy, if head touches you've flipped.
If seat turns brown ,close to doing both of above
how hard can it be lol
@ Kallen again, can't have too many guages to monitor engine functions IMO
Just a red light coming on doesn't seem right, plus too late as well

It would be nice if you could have a "Heads up Display" for all your Guages.
Maybe someone here has knowledge on HUD's

Its 700x700 so could get 2 in a mold.
I'm thinking something which molds off the side of the original cluster suround and tapers off in both directions, with gauges slightly tilted sidways to face the driver more..

I think it would be good if the car talked to you when things are not right-
"Your water is low Tony"
"Air pressure is low in left rear Tony"
"Tony what are you doing....don't do it....it is too steep...you are going to kill us.
Then again it is starting to sound like my wife.

Haha yeah I don't think I need one either but I was just recalling the gauge cluster that I've seen on a 60 dash
