Hi all

I have just taken my GQ (89 wagon) off the road, for a 6-12 month project. Fix the dents, rebuild everything, and an extra cab chop.

I was wondering if there is anything that is tricky/has an easy nifty way of removing, or if it is just take out what you see.

The other question is how much extra is involved in removing the body completly? As I am considering changing the colour this would make it eaiser to paint the inside of the engine bay.

Cheers!

6 to 12 months...... Thats Funny!!!

nah good luck mate, will be a great project. I predict 2 Years for your project at least.

Check out my build in the link in my sig line.

I have a mate that is nearly ready for paint in his extra cab cut down, all Engineered and ready to roll and he is already 2 years in.

Look forward to seeing the final results.

Tape and name every part you remove, I've seen lots of chops where they cut through all the fuel lines and loom.
12 mths take your time look forward to seeing the finished product, What Colour?? something different please.

That is an awesome thread mudrunner!!! Really helpful, and i will be stealing some of your ideas!

Would you happen to have any pics of your mates extracab? I have been scrolling through a few to decide which ones I like, as the chops are all done differently.

12 months is a hope, If it takes longer so be it, but I know that if it does then I will be off my P's, and a v8 will be on the cards (would love it, but I just know I can't afford it!!!)

I know all about marking lines threedogs, when My mate and I put the head on his Rocky back together all the markings had been done in texta, which had rubbed off, and was one massive task.

I am planning to make sure I don't cut through any electrics though!

Colourwise I was thinking either a fire engine red, or a nice blue, like lilrig was painting his ute. - Was thinking black, but just shows up the slightest imperfections!

Will be talking to an engineer this week, and starthing work as soon as I get the chance to put the head on my sisters Pulsar together (Unfortunatly I need my mate for that one) I would start sooner but Dad won't let me hahaha!

Cheers!

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would just ask if anyone knows where I can find a list of TMR approved engineers in QLD? Have tried google, the forum, and the TMR website to no avail!

Cheers!

There is a member here that is certified in QLD.... I thik he has a vendors thread. Ask Scottie in a pm, he might know??

Start a new thread in the QLD section asking that specific question mate. Worth the resource.
