Hi guys,

I have a GQ with a 2.8t engine I had a huge problem with EGT going well over 570 degrees, I took it to a service centre that specialises in Nissans they put it on the dyno and said they had fixed it. A little while later I took it for a drive on the freeway and the temps were still there, I rang back and the said to bring it back and they would increase the boost pressure to help cool it down. In the meantime I have learned how to turn the fuel down witch stopped the overheating but it seems to have lowered the boost a little bit. The question is does anyone know how they would have raised the boost I have looked at manual boost controllers on ebay and what I have read I am a bit wary of them. Anyone have any ideas on what I might do.

Regards Bob

Hey Bob,

I have been through most RD28t problems and I have had experienced egt's being quite high.

I just wanna say that I would never own a turbo engine without a manual boost controller (Just a turbosmart one) and a boost gauge, they are literally the first mods I perform. What have you read that has made you wary of them?

Careful with the fuel adjusting, you don't wanna crack a cylinder head! Been there done that.

Not quite sure how they would adjust it without a boost controller of some sort, I am unaware of any adjusting spots on a factory RD28t turbo i don't think they have one tbh I could be wrong or the service centre is ripping you off?

Have you done a pressure test on your cooling system yet? checked for oil in overflow bottle coolant? sludge or oily residue under radiator cap? all signs of head gasket or cracked cylinder head.
Viscous Fan Hub working properly turning on and off correctly?
Have you checked that your injectors are in good condition? not glazed over.
