View Full Version : First day of the rest of my life

Today I'm a very happy man!
Some of the lads here know but many of you would not; for the last 8 months I have been treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma and have endured 6 months of chemo and until yesterday a month of radiation treatment every day as well.
That is all finished as of yesterday and I am in remission (expect to be completely cured long term).
4wding and this forum have been a key part of my life during my ordeal, keeping me sane and giving me something good to look forward to regularly. Having an activity such as ours has been great for keeping a long term positive outlook and being able to imagine all the great trips in years to come.
I just wanted to say thanks to a bunch of new mates I have made on here, who though they won't have known it at the time, really helped me get through one of life's great challenges.
I look forward to many more meet ups!
Please remember this though guys: make sure you live life to the max every day because you just never know when it might get taken away........learn to enjoy the moment you're in and there is always someone worse off than yourself in this world!
Catch you 'round the forums or out on the tracks.
Cheers,
Drew

Very true mate, its amazing how many "healthy" people complain about life, it must really make un-healthy people sick to hear them complain, if you don't have your health, you've got nothing, to many people take it all for granted.

Thanks for sharing anyway Drew, and all the best mate !

Hey Drew, do you have a long range sub tank mate? There is a guy on MudRhino selling a 70lt sub tank with hoses and pump for $350 but open to offers, I reckon you'd get it for $250 or so??

Yelled out to Winnie but he passed.

Check in to the Vic planner thread for the Meetup in the middle mate.

Thanks mate, picked up an 80lt from eBay for $150 a couple of months ago.....haven't fitted it yet but just discovered because it has the EFI pump in the tank I can set it up relatively easily to draw from it as a separate tank rather than pump across to the main tank...
I'll have 220L in 2 tanks when I'm done....
Will check out that thread too!

I don't mind about people complaining, each to their own. The point many folks miss and one that became apparent when confronted with my "new normal" (as its known), was to always look at the glass half full.

My grandmother has non hogkins lymphoma, not real sure of the difference but she is turning 100 in six weeks and she still lives by herself...she keeps telling me to stay positive in life no matter what hits you.

Cheers lads....I'm not totally out of the woods yet, there is a small risk (statistically about 5%) of a relapse in the next 3-4 years. The longer it goes, the less likely it is.
I'll take those odds though!
