Does anyone know if the shroud is different for a petrol and diesel?

Hmmmmm? I doubt it? They will be very close if not identical. On a GQ I assume? A GU will likely have a number of different ones

Thanks. It is for a 94 gq. Have had some overheating problems and thought I might get a new one and see I can get some more air in.

Have you inspected the radiator for blockage? Might be worth pulling it out completely and hose it out, inside and out.

If your running around without a shroud of any description then refitting the shroud will make a MASSIVE Difference mate!

Big difference on tojos from diesel to petrol same model.
EG 3F petrol efi /carb
1HZ diesel
Would think patrols would be different as well in GQ guise

The only difference is the top hose and i think 1 shroud does all, only difference is the top hose, petrol is on the passenger side, diesel is on the drivers side.

Yeah at Woods Point we looked at a couple and came to the conclusion that they are the same? There are clips that are used on diesels but not on petrols and vice versa and the clips were on both.

Thanks for all advice. I have been chasing this for a while. I can only find a petrol shroud on the net a present. For info I have changed all the usual hoses, thermostat, radiator, water pump, tested pressure, no co2 in coolant, no white smoke. Runs like a dream unless I am towing.

Is your rig petrol or diesel ?? A bad fuel mixture causing the incorrect air fuel ratio and wrong timing can cause a motor or over heat as well, not having the fan shroud to help direct the air doesn't help at slower speeds but it would be a start. Is your clutch fan engaging ???

Replacing my viscous hub on my vp helped a s**t load. Try locking the fan to the w/pump pulley so it's direct drive and go for a cruise to see if problems still there.
Cheers Justin.

It is diesel alitis. I think I will get a dyno and tune done. I have done a far bit of work to the old girl since the injector pump was replaced.

Try the fan shroud as well Dinger, it was put there for a purpose not just for looks lol. Let us know how you go.

If you don't have a shroud,fit one
If you have one and done what you mentioned, and its still running hot, go get the radiator flushed by a rad shop ....
90 % of cooling issues are blocked radiators
The other 10 % is faulty parts

Funny - I was doing a search earlier today on shrouds. Mine is missing the lower clip-in section. Have a look at http://www.patrolapart.com.au/product/cooling/fan-shroud-suit-gq-tb42-amp-2/.
