GME Software: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/GME-software.rar
GME TX3400 User Manual: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/GME-TX3400-Manual.pdf
To connect the PC to the UHF besides the software you will need the programming cable, check out sarge1950au post on cable diagram located here. (http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?2056-GME-Programming-Lead-Diagram)
Iif you want to purchase one here are some links
Old Style 25 pin Cable

New Style USB Cable

I use the software between my PC and TX3400 2 change the 10 extra channels.
I believe this software if extremely hard 2 get so if you have one of these old GME units i recommend saving this software

G'Day,
I have a GME TX3400 in my 2000 GU 4.5L Patrol and bought a GME1 cable from radioworks.com.au ebay store.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280670334681&ssPageName=ST\]GME%20PROGRAMMING%20CABLE%20TX3600%20TX3800%20TX44 00%20TX3420%20etc.%20|%20eBayRK:MEWNX:IT
I have a copy of TX3400_Programmer.zip and an old laptop running Windows 98.
The cable is plugged in to the RS232 serial port on the laptop and the RJ12 plug where the handset plugs in on the TX3400.
My issue is, it won't read the radio. The software errors saying "the read has failed. Try resetting the radio" I have tried setting the software to COM1 and also COM2, but it still gives me the same error.
I also dragged out another PC I have, this one has WindowsXP on it and two RS232 serial ports. This computer gives me the same error as the laptop running Windows98.
I don't really want to buy a USBtoRS232 adaptor, this seems like a waste, since it should work without one since both the laptop and pc have serial ports.
Can anyone offer some advice, or point me to a tutorial of some sort, I have spent hours searching the net for a solution with no success.
Do I need something else, is this cable and the software all I need or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance,
PanterA

Thx Toddrhind for the screenshot, i'll check that when I get home. I'm at work at the moment, afternoon shift :)
I have the GME TX3400, http://www.gme.net.au/products/discontinued-products/cb-radios/TX3400
I grabbed a copy of the manual from GME's website and printed that out :)
I'm starting to wonder if the cable is faulty :/
(btw your inbox is full :P)
Cheers

No worries mate, hope you get it sorted without 2 much hassle. I'm on here most nights so just pm me if you need more info, I would lean toward a faulty lead, but would rather check every possible thing before sending the lead back and getting another.
If you need 2, Pm me your addy and i will lend you my lead, that way you will know if its the lead or not for sure.
Cheers

IT WORKS ! :)
It was a faulty cable.
I got a 10x magnification eyeglass and had a look at the RJ12 plug, the tiny copper pins which are supposed to pierce the wire had gone on the outside of the wire on pin 6!!
I couldn't be bothered with sending the cable back and getting a replacement, so i grabbed an old RJ12 phone cable, cut both cables, and joined the appropriate wires, ie. pin 1 ground, pin 5 and pin 6.
Went down to the car, plugged the freshly hacked up cable in to the old laptop and in to the TX3400 and what do you know, it worked.
Argh, what a pain in the backside experience.
Thanks Todd heaps for your help, and I appreciate your offer of lending me your cable.
Cheers

Thread necro for sure, however I have downloaded the software, however when I run it, it states "this app cannot run on your computer" I'm assuming this is a 16 bit application? does anyone know? Is there a newer version for the tx4400 available that anyone has?
