Yes I know this topic is old but I just wanted to get opinions of those who have actually done the deed, which method they find is best.
1. Use the rear cut off a ute
2.Use the rear quarters of the wagon body to form the cab back
3. Use a flat section for the cab back and cut a window in.
These seem to be the most common methods but im sure there are others out there if anyone has any fresh ideas?
Also what is the consensus regarding the value of a dualcab vs. wagon? Is it worth doing from that point of view? They seem to advertise a lot dearer than the wagon equivalent.

back of a Ute in a heart beat if you can get one. expect to pay $1500 for the whole Ute cab (no doors or interior) just so you can cut the back off.
I actually dont see the point? If you want the Dual cab why would you cut off the secure and dust and mud free compartment on the back and replace it with a tube bar and carry your sway and fridge in the mud and rain?? For Looks? I dont get it?
Extra cab cut down for a two seater though is sweet but if you have kids then you are cutting them out of your hobby..

Well the rationale is that for a work vehicle to be totally tax deductible without requiring logbooks, it cant be a wagon, but a ute or dualcab it can...
Kind of a grey area I cant get a straight answer about from ATO but its worked well for the last 4 years with my current dualcab, so why not a GQ?
I have no use for a tube style tray but probably just an ordinary alloy tray body

Check Ron Moons extended GU dual cab. Its an awesome set up in anyones book.
Well set up for out back and world wide remote touring in the true sense of the word.
Ive seen a few and the ones with a short back cut welded on look way better than a flat sheet.
Did see one with 2" pipe as the corners that looked ok. There is one guy down here that does awesome dual cab cuts
