What year is it?
06 onwards I think the red light on top of the dash should go out when reading the transponder in the key.

I had an issue with my car in regards to the immobiliser last year. The car would crank but no ignition. Seemed to happen on hot day when the car interior was really warm. Turned out to be the antenna for reading the key code for the immobiliser was buggered. Have you tried the other key? The one your using might be faulty.
