Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone out there can offer some advice on the following:
On my Y60, I had a distinct knock when i change direction on the steering wheel at standstill. After checking underneath it seemed to come from the panhard rod on the axle end. I pushed some grease into it and the noise went. Assuming it was a worn bush I ordered a new set and fitted them. The noise is back??? The bushes each fit onto a different size pin, and i noticed the larger of the two pins (the problem end) seems a bit tapered?? When you slide the bush onto it it fits snugly around the wider base of the pin, but there is play near the top? Is this pin meant to be tapered or is this from wear? It looks too uniform to be wear but I could well be wrong....Just seems odd that the bush is not tapered in that case as well?
If it is the pin that is worn I guess it will be a case of cutting it off and welding a new one on? First time I have replaced a bush to make a noise come back!!!
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Jamie
