Hi All,
What is the GO with the recall I read in the paper on the weekend. it appears a heap of Jap vehicles were fitted with defective passenger side air bags from 2000 - 2004. The article stated that the air bag can explode sending shards of plastic into the cabin (the cook is not happy with the thought of that!). Mine is a 2001 GU Patrol I am the third owner of the vehicle, I doubt if Nissan would track me down so what is the recourse? Contact Nissan direct or my local Dealer? This will apply to a heap of us I presume, so any suggestions would be great.
Cheers,
Baz

Mine is a 2000 model and I have a passenger air bag and ABS. They have always been an option.
I asked my dealer last week and he said he found out about it on the news. He does not know what particular models are being recalled and is waiting on word from Nissan.
You would think they would let their dealers know BEFORE they released information to the media!

Recalls are managed via NEVDIS, the manufacturer contacts them and they supply the owner information. I used to look after their system and you'd be amazed how many recalls there are.

Hi all,
Emailed Nissan Australia on Tuesday about the recall. Received a call from them Today, apparently the recall was announced in the U.S. so they are still waiting to hear what vehicles are affected in Australia. Mine has A.B.S. and passenger airbag which were an option (Safety Pack). They also said they can track the vehicles through their data base, anyway I am now officially on their data base and will be notified of any future issues as they come to hand.
Regards,
Baz

You should be notified via post mate.... When I had my old xtrail, I was notified by post for a problem with the cat even though I was the 2nd owner, same with the missus Honda jazz for electric window switches. They'll find ya, they have the technology ;)
