Well, the Old Trol got me home, but about 80ks from home, on a twisty section of the highway, when I went around a tight left bend, A huge howling/rubbing noise scared the daylights outta me. I pulled over, grabbed a torch and checked everything I could get to. The noise reminded me of a seized thrust bearing. It appeared twice more then dissappeared. The only thing that I can see wrong is oily grease leaking out of the left hand swivel onto the brake shield. Any thoughts fellas?

Have you checked if the steering stop nut is in the right position on the swivel gasket? If it is wrong it could allow the wheels to turn more than the cv-joints can handle.

I'll crawl under and have another look. I have not driven the Old Trol much since that night. But I did take it for a run on a twisty road and no noise appeared. I reckon a stick or a piece of blown truck tyre must've got jammed in and fell out when I turned left to get off the highway.

Was it grease or diff oil?

Dunno yet, Kallen, had other stuff to get done. I did have to replace the rear seals so maybe the front ones are stuffed. I was hoping not to have to do them yet as I was fortunate to pick up a front diff for fifty bucks. ( I think its an auto locker, as it has a barrel shaped jigger which sits in between the two axle ends.) I was hoping to convert it to an electric locker and fit it when I redo the front swivel hubs.
