Well it's been almost 3 months since taking ownership of the patrol and having racked up almost 6500km with a fuel return 11.25L - 12.15L / 100km me and the wife are loving every thing about it.
The time has come to now get seriously about the build up since the funds have just started to flow freely again. At this point I've only added a safari snorkel, new legs for the rhino bars which are attached to a alloy flat rack from my (not working) disco currently sitting the paddock and a ultra gauge which has so far been invaluable in teaching the wife a few things about gear selection!!
Unfortunately the last 3 months I've over researched things and there's so many damn options I've confussed myself where to start and what to buy (winch bar is defo next)!! I've started a list which still has a few blanks and items I'm not sure about, any recommendations or thoughts would be great so I can unload some of the hard earned and have the rig ready for the cape come the end of september??

Winch. Runva 11XP or EWS9500
Lights. Light force Genesis 210 50W HID (own)

That is a very big shopping list you have there, be great if you can afford it all (wish I could).
Do you intend to do everything now or gradually like the rest of us?
Everyone will have different opinions on what you should buy but I don't think you have listed a bad brand in your list.
I think most important are 2" lift, tyres and long range tank for touring.

TPC totally agree with those important things thats why im thinking dobinsons & bilstein combo which worked a treat on the disco an my MTZ have only run up 5000km so an extra tyre an 6 steel rims and I will get away with that cheap enough, but to spend the $$ an upgrade both fuel tanks maybe?? hmm.. I plan to hopefully having a majority of it done in the next 3 months so I've got so time up my sleeves before the cape...
MEGAMONSTER I've allowed 15K (fingers crossed) for the add on bits which is helped by the fact that the rig cost me under 47K on the road with 99km on the clock.. Will be taking the list down to the local O/L this week as I've always got very good pricing from them so will see how the budget holds up?? hopfully the fuel economy stays the same once it's finish with all the additions???

I would start with the best things to provide full protection and performance for your dollar on the track
Bullbar - I love the ARB bar but it is all subjective
Suspension - I am a Koni man and have always had a great run with them
Tyres
These three things alone make your vehicle so much more bushworthy
Air Compressor - Pick a quality one ( I have mine fixed under the bonnet)
Sliders - great protection
Long Range Tank - I have just bought the LRA rear tank
Dual Battery - I have the Piranha battery system and it is really good
Then move onto the nice but not as essential stuff
Exhaust - I am about to change my exhaust and my research has led me to think that the Beaudesert Exhaust will be the best fit for the CRD .
Then assess from there if you need to do anything else

Would be interested to hear how the king springs and bilstien shocks go as when the current springs and shocks give up the ghost that was my preffered option

Firstly I'd be fitting a pillar pod or similar, This way you can monitor and changes in boost or EGTs after fitting exhaust and Chip. Speaking of EGTs blank off your EGR as well and last I would do suspension so it can be tailored to suit the weight
Rip the AUX tank out its way to small for serious outback travel. Either fit a 150 replacement main or a 75 Aux
like I have giving you a 1200ish if not better range..................... Now you'll need to find room for a water tank somewhere. lol

Just be wary of egr blocking.. chips ( some can be disconnected in no time easily) and anything else that may give nissan an excuse to back out of a warranty claim, touch wood you don't need to.

Thanks guys, sounds like I'm on the right track with the first mods;) Just confussed with the EGR blocking? I know the Di's have no drama's with it but there seems to be an issue with the CRD throwing up faults if it's blocked any personnel experiences with blocking the ERG on the CRD motors?? Well I'll chuck my list to O/L on tuesday and seen what happens I reckon I'll atleast save $1k off the Kaymar then what ARB quoted me so that should cover 1 long range tank!!!

I've had mine blocked from almost new, I had it done when I fitted 3" exhaust and chipped.
Nissan have not mentioned anything to me about any of it. I just had 40k service.

Nissan only withdraw their warranty when it goes wrong.
Trust me been there and had to deal with it.
Nissan didn't even wanted to have the parts for inspection they judged by pictures of the outside look of the car.
Dirt or no Dirt, Muddies or Roadtyres, and this is how they voided warranty.
