Alternator - Vacum Pump

Hi all - I have a 1998 Nissan Patrol GU Y61 Turbo Diesel 5 speed manual.
I have been told by the dealer that I need a new alternator (will not charge when stationary)
I have found out that I can save approx. $400- by purchasing one and having it installed.

Is anybody able to tell me if an alternator for this model vehicle needs to have a Vacum Pump on it or not ?????

I do not have sufficient knowledge to tell from existing one.

Hi Wayne.

If you have a look under the bonnet at the alternator if it has hoses and pipes coming off the back of it then yes it has a vac pump, if not then its just a normal alternator.
