Can't afford just yet to buy a dual battery system and want to go off camping soon..
What portable battery pack should I buy to help charge fridge, lights and the option of jump starting if needed?

depends on how much you want to spend
approx $500 will get you a duel system if you do the work youself

hi billy you can buy a powered battery box from repco or bcf places like that for 40 to 50 dollars they have terminals on the front lighter plugs on the side and a led battery level indicator on it, you can get a deep cycle 100ah battery for around $200 to $250, cheap portable power

got myself a ark battery pack with a 100ah battery.
runs the 80l waeco, led lights and phone chargers 4 days straight without any dramas
i think total cost was around the $350 mark

Just get one of the battery packs as mentioned and when it gets low (11.6 min)run the car with jumper leads on it. buy a multi meter, don't trust the little LEDs on the battery boxes they are not accurate enough.
If you want to jump start the car you will need a cranking batt but for everything else you would be better off getting a deep cycle batt.
If you come to bris I'd do the dual batt for you but I'm sure once you have the funds and you asked someone would be kind enough to help you out

Hi Billy all I did was buy a battery box and fit a 100 ah battery in it cost of boxes are
around $70. ATM my battery box houses an 18 ah motor bike size battery
I only use it for camp lighting or for taking it down by the river and setting up a remote light on a stand.
Dont buy any thing yet as my battery place sell boxes so will get you a price

I have the Projecta battery pack with a small gel battery.
Has a merit plug and cig plug.
I got the battery box from Anaconda and the battery from Jaycar.
Use it to run a camp light purchased from Outback Ideas. 27656
I had my camp light extended to sit higher in the air.
I also use it to charge all the phones and iPads at camp.

Mine is the same as Mego's but I've put extra Merit sockets and Anderson outlets on it to suit my needs.
Guy up the road has borrowed it for the weekend but should be here for you to have a look at.
I'll see if the Battery guys will let me borrow one of theirs to show you, plenty of outlets for
all types of 12v sockets, But very handy piece of kit to have around camp.
You can charge it as you drive to camp, I just top up at home with a 20 watt solar panel.
Great if you are travelling every day, or lights only at camp, will explain all on wednesday.

I copied 3dogs, just seemed to be easiest option and reasonably cheap.
Except I did spend some good dollars on a quality gel battery.
