I know the question has been done to death, here is a good YouTube solution provided by a young bloke.

These are the sorts of vids that would be a good addition to a Haines type manual....

I removed the spacers top and bottom 4 in total and it has made a big difference. The steering wobbles have all but dissapeared. Just a very slight one at 80. The bearings were in poor condition in the drivers side so i will do them again once i have new bearings. I will also get new panhard rubbers and see what that does. All in all very happy. Defo worth a try.

very interesting just wondering how removing the shims gets rid of wobble though, anyone able to explain?

As the bearings wear, the clearance between the bearing increases, causing excessive movement. Removing the shim removes this clearance and hopefully the excessive movement.
I'm abit skeptical about this as not everyone should go out there and remove their shims. They are there for a reason and you can risk excessive wear if you infact had properly shimmed bearings.
