Rear seat locked and wont release

Help please!!
My 98 ST patrol wagon has the far rear seat stuck in the locked down position. The lever to release it, to move it to the upright side position, has broken off and now the seat is stuck.

Does anyone know how to get it released?, Is there a trick or alternate release mechanism?
We have looked inside the seat and can see the parts but nothing seems to be moving.

Hopefully someone else has had a similar problem and success.

You could unbolt the seat at the hinges, this will relieve some pressure off the catch, and then perhaps you can get a screwdriver in to flick the lever mech where it has broken off, and get it to release ?

Where are you located ? someone may be able to help.
