View Full Version : Flashlube and Towing Question

Good evening everyone. I am new to the forum and also LPG on my 1996 GQ. I see quite a few gas converts running 'Flashlube' or similar valve saver systems on their vehicles. Can someone please tell me the value of otherwise of Flashlube?
May I request your indulgence with just one more question (for now - smiley) relative to towing a caravan. Some blokes seem to have their units set up so well and some so bad - some dragging their bums and others nice and straight and level. I'm new to caravanning too and I want to get things right. I've seen 'Poly Air' bags advertised. Is this the type of thing I should be looking at to keep things nice and polite whilst towing?
Thanks in anticipation of your advice and help.

I'm a fan of flashlube and have it installed on my GU. It's such a small cost, I prefer it over the damage that MIGHT be caused to our valves.

Hi Roo,
Couple of options for towing, either heavier springs or airbags. I'd recommend airbags, you can adjust the car to sit just right by increasing or decreasing the pressure. Have a look in the search function (top right of the forum), I'm pretty sure it's been discussed previously.
Also I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will respond as well.

I've been told that the unleaded engines are less susceptable to valve trouble when on gas. I used to run the flash lube drip in my old falcon v8 and had no trouble (valve wise). I know of a 2001 jackaroo that has been on gas since new and has never run the flash lube but now has burnt valves, which equals big $$$.

Thanks fella's, I've been doing some research online - some say Flashlube is a good thing and some knock it. But, as you blokes have said, its cheap insurance. I'll be buying a unit once I find a decent price.
I like the idea of the air bags too. Repco have them on special at the moment for $286. I don't know how much below normal price that is yet. I'll do a bit more research.
Thanks for your help - most sincerely appreciated.

Might want to shoot BOB a pm he has a dual fuel 4.5.
and swears buy it not sure if he runs any valve protection or just a tank of ULP every now and then
You may find your head will need reco'ing after 300-400k anyway regardless of dual fuel or not
