This has not come easy and have spoken back and forward to others about this but I know no other way?
We have a member and many will know who I am talking about who has had a run of shit luck and has made a few poor decisions that has lead to where he is now in respect to his car.
He has had serious lung cancer and is not able to do what he wants for work to provide as insurance will not touch him for 5 years.... he has a positive up beat attitude but I can tell it is really starting to weigh him down and now with another baby on the way and his wife soon not being able to work the budget will get tighter and with it the pressures on him.
He made some bad decisions with the purchase of his new car and it has turned into a money pit with so many things wrong with it.... the latest being the clutch.
Now this member and his family enjoy nothing more than getting out there and enjoying the bush and 4wding and is one real escape for them I feel I must help where I can.
The members I have spoken to are pissed at the situation and were more than willing to chuck in some coin to help get his rig back on the road.
Now I am not sure 100% what is needed at this point but thought if we could throw around the hat to help out and get them mobile again... not asking to put food in the mouths but to help with there car.
I myself will chuck in $50 as will another member (up to them if they say who they are)...
Also a suggestion by AB was maybe a workshop day to help in that way?? I know we have a few smart mechanics on here that would be willing to help.
Ab even offered his house to party at!!!!!!
Now I dont know if many of you are willing and it is not like this happens everyday but I feel this is right!!!!
I can set it up so I use my paypal or something .. not sure??
I'm not rich but I know I have it good and I cant sit back and do nothing, every little bit helps.
Payment via Paypal with User name as your reference to : jpgpz at bigpond . com

BA,
Mate if you decide to use your email address make sure you have something like bloodyaussie at isp.com.au
It should stop you getting spammed, otherwise just put up with the PM's and then give those who are interested your email address.
Mate also when you get it sorted count me in to help with some coin, not sure how much I can do at the moment as things are a little tight, but happy to help out when I can.
Good luck with it all

BA,
What I mean is, if your email address is bloodyaussie@bigpond.com.au write it like this
bloodyaussie at bigpond.com.au (bigpond being your internet service provider-ISP).
See how the second example isn't a clickable link, should stop the spammers

Now if we can get this side of it done then the other things can be done on a separate workshop day, having a workshop to do the clutch would be a massive help as it is a mongrel to do while on the ground as many of you know!!!

Just read that it is a factory bar and should be fitted with a warm winch( think that's funny)
So I guess it can take a winch... Just did not seem strong enough???

Ok I know of issue with this bar and will arrange to have it looked at but for now.... I finally stuck my big fat bottom inside the car and I must say the transfer box is stuffed (I though these were unbreakable)
As I have had a few beers did not want to go for a drive but seem to select all gear no problem but the clutch is rooted, no doubt about it... now I am hoping as with mine that the problems with the gear box are just clutch related??
Now can anyone tell me for sure whether the transfer box is the same as GQ????? as there is one available ..
Next issue is the rear LSD... 4.3.......
I really hope the gearbox is ok as this is a major problem... I will know more later as George will pop round tonight and go for a drive..

I think you need legal documents from a solicitor i know when we did a fundraiser for my mrs dad when he had his accident we collected a lot of doh but for everyone that was donating we had to get something written up, one of the prizes was worth 10k. Well this thread went Nuts!! Nice one guys! Jas your a legend! Newby and Scottie great effort guys! George, Well George! you do good mate!
Is the clutch going to get done on the hoist by the mechanic who volunteered? certainly the safest way by far! Very bloody heavy!
Sounds like this is going to be huge! If its not a H260 then i have a Very good LSD here that i took out of a diff on the weekend but it is wrapped in a 3.9 centre. your welcome to it. happy to strip it out but dont have the skills to rebuild it into the new diff. If it fits its yours!
Given the state of the car, is there value or consideration in doing a front end overhaul? Swivel Hub and king pin rebuild? I have done a few and would be happy to get very dirty doing that. If the kit is there i would be happy to do a side (sound like there will be a heap of blokes)
Nice one BA, great effort mate. I will try and make a deposit in the coming days to.

Email just sent through to confirm.......
G’day Jonathan. Please find my contact details below. As this has really hit home for me I’d like to give you my mobile number as well as my office number so if you have any queries at all and I’m out I can help you as best I can (*********). It truly makes me so happy to hear of honest blokes like you who want nothing more than to help a bloke who needs it. You’re an absolute legend and I respect and admire your efforts for this bloke. I’ll get the ball rolling this afternoon and personally have a meeting with Brenno the editor to work out what we can do and how we go about it. As I said I unfortunately can’t promise anything but we in some way will help your mate out.
Cheers,
Josh Leonard.

Recently Purchased 2001 ZD30 that basically blewup on the way home from buying it privately. Owned since before Christmas and unfortunately the family has not had a single holiday in it since. It has been one thing after another and each time more money out of pocket. Very disappointing for the member. Its a Train Wreck car.
When the boys have finished with it though it may well be a good thing with years left in it.

BA I will donate $50 via PP or CASH if it's easier, and speaking with BA yesty on the phone it seems the car has everything setup for the auxilary battery but has no battery, therefor I will take care of that and supply a brand new Supercharge Deep cycle battery to fit in its rightful place.
The Clutch kit, I can get a 4Terrain kit with Solid flywheel for $875+ GST, my cost price. If anyone can get it cheaper or the equivalent or better, for a better price please let BA know ASAP. I need to order this and BA can even pick it up direct as Clutch Industries are only around the corner from him.
I hope someone is bringing the video camera along on the 6th so this event can be filmed. Truly an epic event and hats off to BA for his efforts. Plus as far as I know half the NADs are done. Dawes and EGR plate are fitted.

Help needed for a member on hard times.
G'day Trendsetters!
Count me in!
Farken busted my arse yesterday helping Steve (Astro) fit his new TD05 16G to his Patrol at my place. Started at 9.00am finished at 1.00am in the morning. Unfortunately, the previous owner had fitted different size nuts to bolt the turbo to the exhaust manifold. We drove around 6 tool shops in Coffs Harbour trying to by a moon spanner to no avail.
In the end my mate Rob from (Robs engineering) in Coffs Harbour welded a steel rod to a 13mm spanner that we decided to modify for the job.
I have fitted a couple of the Nissan Patrol 3lt dual mass flywheel clutch set-ups. Do we have access to a work-shop and hoist? If not what about a gear-box jack and a shed to work in?
I have enough frequent flyer points to fly down to Victoria to help fit the clutch with nissannewby. Jas all you have to do is make me coffee. lol
PS, I have to go back to the Wesley Hospital next Thursday to see my specialist. Let me know a date when you want to do the work.

Ok we have a plan in place but we will know more after tomorrow..
The clutch will be done before that weekend meet up at AB's as it is a bugger of a job it will be done the weekend before on a hoist.
Now at AB's we will be doing all the other work..eg: diffs hubs electrical and so on.. I dont want to go into detail yet as I dont know what we can afford yet.
The clutch has been taken care of as is the battery by Mark, Andrew is looking into some stuff through ARB but we wont know till next week what he can get so until some things that are beyond our control are confirmed we will not know our budget 100%.
I would still like to see some vendors come to the party with some goodies ... :)
Depending on what happens with magazines we might need a person with good camera gear there to take lots of pics and we will write our own story??
Andy will post up the meet at his place any day now and let you all know the sleeping arrangements.... bags at the end of AB's bed!!!!!
mudski
22nd March 2013, 07:49 PM
Jonathan. When I order the clutch you reckon you could go around to Clutch Industries and pick it up? I am away, again, all next week for work. The battery I will buy the week after and bring it with me to AB's.
Drewboyaus
22nd March 2013, 08:05 PM
Btw, what electrical stuff do we need to do? I'll bring my soldering iron and auto elec toolbox to AB's if you like to help out with that. Will need an idea of how much split corry I'll need to bring to do it right.

Those hooks on the back are for towing - not recovery ... i.e. not for snatching off ... the pull weight is only held by the thread of the bolts.
Use the tow receiver hitch and pin (tongue removed of course), or other rated recovery hooks (like the slide in style with bow shackle).
Sorry, just notice this one ...
