The picture appeared online during a recovery points google search( amazingly enough it appeared on that other site)

Hmmm, I actually thought the problem with the picture was the hook didn't have a safety catch!!!! Am I missing something?

No, that was a Bow shackle, still take ya head off tho!! NOTHING is towball friendly full stop!

Hmmm I cant see three.
But I can see it is definatly NOT a snatch strap hanging of that extension, I could be designed as a lay flat tow point. You can RECOVER a broken down vehicle from the side of the motor way.
